Kantaro Sakai

Kantaro Sakai is Yuji Sakai's father and the husband of Chigusa Sakai.

According to his own description, his job is to "listen to the troubles of people in need."

He is usually stationed overseas on his own for work.

He also seems to enjoy surprising people, and apparently does not give advance notice before coming home.

Kantaro often makes jokes and wisecracks.

However, as Chigusa puts it, his humor is "not funny, but the shock is always huge."

Kantaro has a playful and mischievous side.

His habit of suddenly appearing without warning makes him especially good at catching others off guard.

At the same time, he comes across as highly capable and perceptive.

He is the sort of person who can seem lighthearted one moment and impressively reliable the next.

He has a slender build.

Despite that, he is an enormous eater and is known for eating in reckless, excessive ways.

Like his wife Chigusa, Kantaro looks remarkably youthful.

Out of consideration for her feelings, he tends not to mention his age very much.

He is also highly athletic.

His reflexes are good enough that he managed to evade Shana's flying kick, even though the situation was partly resolved by chance.

Kantaro is exceptionally skilled at tailing people and conducting investigations.

His ability in this area is described as first-rate.

His quick reactions and physical coordination also stand out.

These traits reinforce the impression that he is far more capable than his easygoing behavior might initially suggest.

While still a student, Kantaro married Chigusa after her pregnancy was discovered, when she was still his girlfriend at the time.

As a result, he was disowned by his family.

He has had no contact with his family since then.

That break from his relatives remains unchanged in the present.
