Shinpei Ajiro

The protagonist of the story, a 17-year-old boy. He went to Tokyo after his middle school graduation but returns to his hometown of Hitogashima for the first time in two years to attend the funeral of his childhood friend, Ushio Kofune. Originally speaking in a dialect, he now speaks standard Japanese due to his life in Tokyo. During his journey back home, he inherits Haine's right eye from Ushio, who appears in his dream, and gains the ability to time loop with restrictions, triggered by his own death, allowing his consciousness to leap back to the past.

At the age of 10 (at the start of the story), he lost his parents in an accident and was taken in by the Kofune family through the connection of his mother, Akemi. Ushio and Mio are his foster siblings. He has a habit of "overviewing," imagining a third-person perspective to objectively assess situations when he is about to lose his composure due to agitation, and this way of thinking helps him navigate crises in the story. He is skilled in cooking and attends a culinary school. He admires the writer Ryunosuke Minakata.

In the reconstructed world, he retains his previous memories.
