The number plate is taken back, and Sommy loses his advantage in the exam.

Sommy is a monkey handler, and his key fighting style revolves around his trained monkey.

In the anime adaptation, this monkey is given the name Kamuri.

Kamuri supports Sommy by performing agile thefts, assisting in surprise attacks, and helping him track or harass other candidates.

In the anime version of the Fourth Phase, the events play out with a more dramatic conclusion for Sommy.

He is captured and tied to a tree, effectively being rendered unable to continue and thus eliminated from the exam.

After Sommy is defeated, Kamuri’s loyalty wavers.

Seeing his handler lose and become helpless, Kamuri abandons Sommy.

Kamuri then joins a wild troop of monkeys that happen to be nearby.

Together with this new group, Kamuri leaves the area and disappears into the wilderness, parting ways with Sommy for good.

Despite his earlier failure, Sommy continues to pursue a Hunter License.

He reappears in the 288th Hunter Exam as a repeat candidate.

By this time, Sommy no longer has Kamuri at his side, having been abandoned in the previous year’s exam.

Even so, he once again attempts to clear the rigorous tests to become a Hunter.

During the 288th Hunter Exam, Sommy faces Killua Zoldyck.

Killua, with his assassin background and overwhelming combat ability, proves far too strong for Sommy.

Sommy is defeated by Killua in this exam cycle.

As a result, he once again fails to qualify as a Hunter and leaves the exam without a license.
