Deputy Director of the National Police Agency. Soichiro's superior.

Due to an internal investigation by one of the FBI agents, Ray, hidden cameras and listening devices were installed in his home by L, similar to the Yagami family, which made him fear Kira suspicions towards his daughter. During the Second Kira incident, under L's instructions, he dispatched a police force to seal off the area around Sakura TV to assist Soichiro, who had forcibly entered Sakura TV to seize the message video containing the Second Kira's murder announcement from Demegawa. In the Yotsuba incident, he was pressured by politicians receiving bribes from the Yotsuba Kira to halt the investigation, advising Soichiro to cease joint investigations with L and to resign. After the arrest of the Yotsuba Kira, he agreed to continue the Kira investigation.

He does not appear in the second part, and since Soichiro has succeeded him as Deputy Director, it seems he was either demoted or retired during the interim period.

In the live-action film adaptation, only his name is mentioned.
