Power is a female Blood Fiend and Public Safety Devil Hunter from Special Division 4 in Chainsaw Man, originally the feared Blood Devil who later becomes Denji’s partner and a core heroine of the series.

Affiliation: Public Safety Devil Hunters, Anti-Devil Special Division 4
First-Person Pronoun: “Washi” in the original (an archaic, self-important “I”)
Estimated Physical Age: Late teens (appearance of the possessed corpse)
Height: 170 cm
Likes: Blood, her cat Meowy (Nyako)

Voice Actor (Anime): Fairouz Ai

Power is introduced as a fiend who, unlike most fiends, retains relatively high intelligence and self-awareness.
Because of this, Makima spares her extermination and trains her as a Public Safety Devil Hunter.
Her true identity is the Blood Devil, a high-ranking devil who was once feared by other devils.
As a fiend, she inhabits the corpse of a young woman, giving her a human-like body with devil traits.
Power becomes Denji’s partner (buddy) and one of his closest companions.
Despite being a monstrous entity, she gradually forms genuine emotional bonds, especially with Denji and Aki Hayakawa.
Power appears as a tall, slim teenage girl with distinctive devil features.
She has long milk-tea colored hair, two red horns protruding from the top of her head, and orange irises with crosshair-like patterns.
Her body is slender but appears busty at first glance.
However, this is because she wears padded inserts for fun, not out of insecurity but because she finds it amusing that her chest looks bigger.
In Part 1, the identity and life of the human corpse she possesses are never revealed.
From the looks of the body, the girl likely died in her late teens.
When she consumes large amounts of blood, additional horns grow from her temples, and her existing horns lengthen.
This visual change signals a boost in her Blood Devil powers.
Power speaks in a grandiose, archaic style, calling herself “Washi” and addressing others as “thou” or “ye” equivalents.
She often introduces herself with bombastic lines like “Bow before me, human! My name is Power!”
Beneath the bluster, she is childish, selfish, and extremely self-centered.
She lies constantly, contradicts herself without shame, and shifts blame whenever things go wrong.
Her pride is enormous due to her origin as a devil, and she is very arrogant.
At the same time, she is quick to cower and prioritize self-preservation when faced with someone stronger.
Power also has a strong tendency to rewrite her own memories in a way that flatters or excuses her.
She will deny having said something moments earlier and insist she is right with absolute confidence.
She is lazy, unhygienic, and inconsiderate in daily life.
Examples include rarely bathing, sometimes not flushing the toilet, using other people’s point cards without permission, and drinking Denji’s blood while he sleeps.
Her behavior toward food is equally appalling and comedic.
She hates vegetables, throws them out of Aki’s cooking, and once ordered mapo eggplant only to declare she hates eggplant and deny ever claiming to like it.
Despite being almost indefensible as a person, there is a straightforward, childlike honesty in her emotions.
This combination makes her strangely endearing to many readers and characters, even as she causes chaos.
Blood Manipulation
As the Blood Devil, Power can control blood, primarily her own.
She can harden her blood into weapons such as hammers, spears, and knives.
She can also manipulate blood to stop bleeding and treat injuries.
This applies to her own body and, to a lesser degree, to others.
Power claims she is not very good at manipulating other people’s blood in her fiend state.
Her control is greatly enhanced when she is in her original Blood Devil form.
One of her techniques involves storing her blood in bottles and using them as traps.
When an enemy approaches, she can remotely transform that stored blood into projectiles and shoot them.
Excessive use of her blood leaves her anemic and unable to move.
Conversely, drinking large amounts of blood dramatically boosts her strength and grows her horns, but also makes her more arrogant and unstable, requiring regular bloodletting.
Fiend Physiology
As a fiend, Power has enhanced physical abilities and notable durability.
She can take severe damage yet recover by consuming blood.
Like other devils and fiends, she can come back from grievous wounds as long as enough blood is supplied.
Her fiend form is less powerful than her full Blood Devil form but still formidable compared to normal humans.
Power’s original form as the Blood Devil appears later in the story.
In this form, she resembles a female-shaped carnivorous beast with four arms and exposed organs running from her lower jaw to her abdomen.
She retains key visual elements from her fiend appearance, such as cross-shaped eyes, horns, and similar hair.
However, her presence is far more monstrous and overwhelming.
Her blood manipulation here is vastly stronger than in her fiend state.
She can create weapons from other people’s blood and attack them from within, slicing their bodies from inside.
She can also generate numerous blood weapons in mid-air and launch them like artillery.
Despite this terrifying power, her personality remains almost unchanged—still loud, selfish, and emotional, but deeply attached to Denji.
Denji
Denji is Power’s combat partner and one of her housemates.
At first, they constantly argue, and Denji, who is usually weak to cute girls, is openly annoyed by her.
Initially, Power plans to betray Denji by offering him to the Bat Devil in exchange for her beloved cat Meowy’s safety.
When Meowy is eaten anyway, Power suddenly understands Denji’s grief over Pochita and resigns herself to death, only to be rescued by Denji.
After being saved, she comes to trust Denji deeply.
They gradually develop a sibling-like bond, with Power often biting him to drink his blood yet seeking his comfort and protection.
Power and Denji train together under Kishibe, endure missions, and share daily life in Aki’s apartment.
Their dynamic evolves from antagonistic bickering to genuine camaraderie and emotional dependence.
Aki Hayakawa
Aki is Power’s other housemate and colleague.
At first, she is an absolute nightmare roommate—throwing his vegetables away, making a mess, stealing, and defying his rules.
Over time, partly due to Aki’s “training” and discipline, some of her worst habits soften.
She becomes marginally more cooperative and begins to care about their strange little found family.
While she still causes trouble, Aki serves as a grounding, older-brother figure.
Their interactions show both her immaturity and her capacity for growth.
Makima
Makima is Power’s boss and someone she deeply fears.
Around Makima, she sweats nervously, speaks less, and even switches to polite speech.
Her usual arrogance disappears when Makima is present.
Power instinctively senses Makima’s overwhelming power and malice, choosing self-preservation over bravado.
Meowy (Nyako)
Power despises humans but shows surprising affection for animals and flowers.
Her most treasured being is her cat Meowy (called Nyako).
The Bat Devil once took Meowy hostage and forced Power to bring him a human in exchange.
This leads to her plan to sacrifice Denji, which ultimately fails and ends with both her and Meowy being swallowed.
When Denji rescues them, Power realizes the depth of his feelings about loss.
Meowy remains a symbol of Power’s capacity for love and vulnerability.
Power bursts into the narrative as Denji’s new buddy in Special Division 4, loudly announcing herself.
Her over-the-top introduction and total lack of tact immediately clash with Denji.
Early on, her selfish actions cause trouble, such as stealing kills from private Devil Hunters and lying to avoid consequences.
She also devours all the rations during the fight with the Eternity Devil, then shamelessly denies it.
Despite being a walking disaster, she proves useful in combat through her blood weapons.
Her chaotic personality provides comic relief while also exposing her as emotionally stunted and terrified of genuine connection.
Later in the story, Makima kills Power as part of her own hidden agenda.
However, because Power previously had Denji drink her blood, a fragment of the Blood Devil persists within him.
This fragment allows the Blood Devil to resurrect in her true form from within Denji.
Even while fatally wounded, she fights to protect Denji from Makima.
In her final act, Power makes a contract with Denji.
She promises to give him her blood and revive him in exchange for his future promise to find the Blood Devil again and become friends once more.
After fulfilling this contract, she disappears, leaving a lasting emotional scar on Denji.
In chapter 83, Makima also counts the Blood Devil among the beings tied to Chainsaw Man.
Power became one of the breakout characters of Chainsaw Man.
In an official popularity poll, she ranked first, beating even Denji and Makima.
A special color spread showed a smug, uniform-wearing Power posing center stage in a school AU-style illustration.
This artwork did not make it into the tankobon volumes, becoming a sought-after image only seen in the original magazine, certain goods, and Jump+ ads.
Her creator has said Power is the most fun character to write.
He has described his type as “high-handed, unreasonable women,” and told an anecdote about a female acquaintance who flipped his bicycle and proudly told him what she’d done—an act very “Power-like.”
The name “Power” comes from “Powers,” one of the ranks of angels in Christian angelology.
Her personality is also said to be based partly on a character from the 1998 American film The Big Lebowski, most likely Walter Sobchak.
Power’s anime voice actor, Fairouz Ai, is herself a fan of Chainsaw Man.
When the cast information was revealed in a live broadcast, she appeared cosplaying Power.
She styled her hair to resemble Power’s horns and wore a suit similar to the Division 4 uniform.
This enthusiastic performance helped further endear Power to fans.
Power also appeared, along with Denji, in the TPS online battle game #Compass.
This marked the first Jump series collaboration for the game and allowed crossover interactions with characters like Gon Freecss and Killua Zoldyck.
During the collaboration, a strange “bug-like” behavior occurred in the card gacha.
When players pulled the gacha as Denji or Power, the character animating the pull would sometimes switch unexpectedly, which turned out to be an intentional but unexplained “specification” that surprised many players and became a minor legend among the community.
