Kahei Hashida

The head of the powerful Hashidaya conglomerate, Kahei Hashida, is a cunning individual who will stop at nothing to protect his family business. He acts as a patron to pro-terrorist Joi rebels, employing Nizou Okada as his bodyguard. Kahei once tried to forcibly take his only grandson, Kanshichirou Hashida, from his mother, Ofusa; however, after a commotion involving Gintoki Sakata and his friends, Kahei reconciled with Ofusa. Nevertheless, Kanshichirou dislikes him because of Kahei's unscrupulous methods. In reality, Kahei deeply cares for his family, and his love for his late wife and his son Kantaro, who died young, is profound. When he lost his wife, he swore to "protect Kantaro and Hashidaya," and Kantaro's death brought him immense sorrow.
