The head priest of the temple. He is the younger brother of Veronica, the former lord's wife, and the uncle of Sylvester. Despite being from a family close to the lord, he has low magical power and was placed in the temple before he became aware of his surroundings. With Veronica's backing, he acts as he pleases, knowing that any misconduct will be covered up. When he mistakenly believed Myne to be the daughter of a wealthy family, he behaved like a kindly old man, but upon learning she was the daughter of a poor family, he arrogantly forced Myne to join the temple, only to be overpowered by Myne's magical intimidation and fainted. Even after Myne became a shrine maiden apprentice, he resented her presence and tried various means to drive her out. Towards the end of the second part, he plotted to sell Myne to Count Bindewald, but was charged and executed when it was revealed that Myne had already been contracted as the lord's adopted daughter. Until the end, he tried to appeal to Sylvester's emotions and shift all the blame onto Count Bindewald to escape, but was declared "worthy of death" and met his downfall. He lost his position as head priest without ever apologizing to Myne. He frequently visited noble houses to complain about Myne, planting negative impressions of her and sparking incidents. When confronted by Ferdinand and Sylvester, he disgracefully shifted the blame onto Myne, claiming she disrupted the temple's order.
