Bezewanst is the former High Priest of the temple and the younger brother of the previous ruling lord’s wife, Veronica. Although he is from a noble family closely related to the lord, he has low magical power and was sent to the temple as a child. Over the years, with Veronica’s protection, he did whatever he wanted, taking advantage of the fact that any wrongdoing would be concealed. At first, he thought Myne was the daughter of a wealthy merchant and acted friendly, but when he learned she was from a poor family, he turned arrogant and tried to force her into the temple. Myne’s strong magic overwhelmed him, and after that, he continued to plot against her. In the second part of the story, he tried to sell Myne to Count Bindewald, but because a contract had already been made to make her the lord’s adopted daughter, he was found guilty and executed. He never apologized to Myne until he lost his position and life.
Bezewanst is very selfish and likes to get his way. He is especially mean to those who have less power or are from lower classes. He uses his status to do bad things and expects to be saved by his powerful family. When things don’t go as he hopes, he tries to blame others and avoids taking responsibility. He pretends to be friendly when he thinks someone is important, but shows his true rudeness to those he looks down on.
Bezewanst is the younger brother of Veronica, the former lord’s wife. He comes from a family close to the ruling lord, but because his magical power is weak, he was sent to serve at the temple from a young age. Veronica made sure he always had her support, covering up any mistakes or crimes he made in the temple.
Early Life and Temple Life
Bezewanst was sent to the temple as a child because he did not have enough magic power to become an important noble. Under Veronica’s care, he became used to getting special treatment and doing as he pleased.
Myne and the Mistaken Identity
When Bezewanst first met Myne, he thought she was a rich merchant’s daughter and acted friendly. Once he found out Myne was poor, he became mean and wanted to force her into life at the temple. Myne refused, and because of her strong magic, Bezewanst fainted from fear.
Trouble with Myne
After being embarrassed by Myne, Bezewanst kept trying to get rid of her by making different plans. He disliked that Myne became a shrine maiden and worked hard to find ways to expel her from the temple.
Attempt to Sell Myne
Near the end of the second part, Bezewanst tried to sell Myne to Count Bindewald. However, by that time, Myne had already signed a contract to become the adopted daughter of Sylvester, the lord. Because of this contract, Bezewanst’s plan backfired, and he was arrested.
Punishment and Downfall
When his crime was discovered, Bezewanst begged Sylvester and tried to put all the blame on Count Bindewald. However, Sylvester said he deserved the death penalty. Bezewanst lost everything and never said sorry to Myne.
Spreading Trouble
Bezewanst often complained about Myne when visiting noble houses, making her seem bad and causing more problems. When questioned by Ferdinand and Sylvester, he tried to make excuses, saying Myne was the one breaking the temple’s rules. He continued to act pitiful until the end.
