Mayu Sagara is a vibrant Japanese voice actress and singer from Kyoto, best known for her energetic roles in popular anime and game franchises like Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club, Prima Porta, and SMILE PRINCESS. Bursting onto the scene in the mid-2010s, she's made her mark as both a beloved character voice and a dynamic music artist. Mayu is also famous for her lively personality, her love for gaming, and her photo books, making her a multifaceted figure adored by fans across anime, music, and social media.

Mayu Sagara was born on April 17, 1995, in Kyoto, Japan. As a child, she developed a passion for anime, dreaming of becoming a voice actress from her late elementary school years. Inspired by the performances and music of leading anime stars, she was deeply invested in anime culture even before her professional debut.

Mayu began attending voice acting auditions during high school, always planning to pivot her life toward a career in voice acting. She was accepted into the Pro-Fit Voice Actor Training Center and, upon completing her training, joined the agency Link-Plan.

Her early voice acting gigs included minor roles in TV anime, but her big break came as the adorable Kasumi Nakasu in Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club, both in the anime and handheld games—roles that propelled her to stardom. She has been active in various anime since, such as Idol Memories, Watcha PriMagi!, and Plaore! Pride of Orange.

Mayu also embraced music, performing character songs, and launching a solo singer career with Universal Music Japan. Her debut album "Smile my style" dropped in November 2023, followed by digital singles and more music projects.

Beyond voice acting and singing, Mayu debuted in live-action with the short film "Sometimes, on Sleepless Nights," and has become a prominent face on YouTube and streaming platforms, known for her cheerful personality and gaming streams.

She has moved agencies a few times, recently joining HIGH PINE in July 2024, after a stint as a freelancer.

In 2023, Mayu and her Nijigasaki groupmates won the Singing Award at the 17th Seiyu Awards—a testament to the group's, and her, musical talent and popularity.

Mayu is close friends with fellow voice actresses Aguri Onishi and Shu Uchida, with whom she shared agency connections early in her career.

Mayu describes herself as a karaoke enthusiast and a lover of discovering good eateries. She’s skilled at abacus calculation (holding a fifth-level certificate), darts, and playing tenor saxophone.

She openly shares her foodie adventures and performances on her social media, connecting with fans through Instagram, her ramen review account, and YouTube.

She was an avid Love Live! fan even before being cast as Kasumi Nakasu, making her role in the franchise especially meaningful to her. Mayu is also recognized for her charming Kansai accent and cheerful "girl-next-door" vibes in media appearances.

Mayu has published several photo books, adding "gravure idol" to her resume.

She voices characters in popular games like Magia Record, Aozora Under Girls!, and Azur Lane, often performing original songs for these titles.

Aside from traditional anime, she has been active in drama CDs, ASMR productions, and unique projects like audio books and stage readings.

Fans can also find her on multiple digital platforms, where she builds connections through livestreams and personal content.
