Daiki Nakamura is a celebrated Japanese voice actor and stage performer, born on December 25, 1962, from Tokyo. He is best known for breathing life into many iconic anime and game characters, displaying a versatile baritone voice in a career spanning over four decades. Nakamura is renowned for his portrayals of powerful and robust male characters, but his range covers both comedic and dramatic roles. Despite a long tenure with the agency 81 Produce, his career has seen both tremendous highs and serious controversy. Fans fondly remember his signature roles in popular series and his lasting influence as a voice acting instructor.

Daiki Nakamura attended Soyo High School and initially aimed to become a teacher. Inspired by Japanese TV dramas, he turned to acting after a failed university entrance exam. Discovering an advertisement for a talent training school, he decided to pursue the entertainment industry. Struggling in the beginning and feeling overshadowed by more conventional choices, Nakamura joined the Aosha Theater Company to seriously study acting.

Nakamura debuted as a voice actor in the anime film "Space Battleship Yamato: Final Chapter" and got his first regular anime role as Dave in "Red Photon Zillion." Over the years, he has voiced countless memorable characters in TV anime, theatrical films, OVA, and games.

Some of his most recognized roles include:

  • Seiji Date in "Ronin Warriors"
  • Gaine/Mightgaine in "Brave Express Might Gaine"
  • Daifuku and Grandpa in "Croquette!"
  • Leo in the "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" (Japanese dub)
  • Rhinox in "Transformers: Beast Wars"
  • Inoichi Yamanaka in the "Naruto" series
  • The dangerously lovable Grandpa in "Absolutely Safe Danger Grandpa"

Nakamura’s work covers a wide spectrum—from hero mechs and villains to comical elderly men and animal mascots. Aside from animation, he's acted in drama CDs, video games, tokusatsu (live-action with special effects), and dubbing for foreign films and TV. He is also known as a voice acting instructor and has worked as a special lecturer at Yoyogi Animation Academy’s Sapporo campus.

A highlight of his early career was being a member of the popular voice actor group NG5 during the "Ronin Warriors" era. Nakamura was affiliated with Arts Vision and 81 Produce. However, in 2024, his contract with 81 Produce was terminated following allegations of harassment and financial misconduct associated with his private voice acting school.

Nakamura has publicly expressed his deep admiration and personal connection with fellow voice actor Shigeru Chiba, who he describes as both a mentor and neighbor.

He is an only child and has a genuine passion for stage sword fighting and boxing. Nakamura cherishes the word "truth," explaining that heartfelt sincerity leads to great acting. Though often described as serious, he’s confessed to struggling with improvisation—except for comedic roles, where he surprises with prepared ad-libs.

  • Nakamura stands at 170 cm and weighs 58 kg.
  • His blood type is A.
  • He appeared as a live-action narrator and occasionally as a stage actor.
  • Known for loving both teaching and learning, he shaped many aspiring voice actors.
  • Nakamura is remembered for his dedication to his roles, often voicing multiple characters in a single production.
  • Due to his contract termination amid controversy in 2024, several of his recurring roles have since been passed on to other prominent voice actors.

Daiki Nakamura’s influence stretches beyond his vocal performances. He remains a reference figure for aspiring actors and anime enthusiasts. Audiences will long associate his distinctive voice with numerous beloved characters across generations.
