Despite battling illness in his later years, Ishihara remained dedicated to his craft until his passing in 2024 at the age of 68.

Bon Ishihara, real name Sumio Ishihara, was born on November 22, 1955, in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan.

He initially got his start with the Mirai Theater Troupe before shifting his primary focus to acting and voice work.

He stood at 172 cm tall and had blood type A.

Ishihara began his professional journey with minor roles in television dramas and stage performances during the 1980s and 1990s.

In the early 2000s, he expanded into voice acting, where his deep, expressive voice quickly became recognized in the anime industry.

He played memorable roles in notable series such as “Gakuen Senki Muryou,” “Tomorrow’s Nadja,” “Black Cat,” "Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood," and "The Eccentric Family," where he portrayed the character Souchiro Shimogamo.

One of Ishihara’s most unique contributions was as the person inside the Lion-chan costume for the variety shows “Lion’s Itadakimasu” and “Lion no Gokigenyou.”

In gaming, he lent his voice to characters in titles like "Agarest War," "Kanuche," "Genroh," and "Warriors of Arslan."
