Kenta Zaima is a Japanese male voice actor from Oita Prefecture, currently affiliated with Aptpro.

Starting his career in the 2010s, he has voiced characters in numerous anime, video games, and drama CDs, often playing supportive or memorable side roles and occasionally landing main characters.

Kenta's journey to becoming a voice actor was far from ordinary; he faced doubts, took bold chances, and even became a ramen shop manager before breaking into voice acting.

Friendly and approachable, Kenta has built a reputation for his energetic performances, versatile vocal range, and genuine personality that shines through both in and out of the recording booth.

Kenta Zaima was born on October 20 in Oita Prefecture, Japan.

He grew up in a rural area without even convenience stores nearby, often stopping by a candy shop on his way home from school.

During high school, he was a member of the rugby club but felt he lacked any "sweet" or classic youthful experiences.

His decision to pursue voice acting was met with strong opposition from his family—especially his anime-loving father, who doubted Kenta's "ordinary" voice would be suited for such a career.

Determined to follow his dream, Kenta convinced his family, enrolled in a vocational school, and later moved to Tokyo to chase his ambitions.

With little knowledge about the entertainment industry, he simply enrolled in schools from the top of a ranking list he found.

Kenta also worked as a contract employee at a company that supported him as a scholarship student.

He later took up a job at a ramen shop, where he eventually became the store manager and even learned how to make the soup.

A turning point in his life came when a friend persuaded him to take a final audition at Aptpro, the only audition he attempted, leading to his acceptance into the agency.

Kenta Zaima is a third-term graduate of Aptpro’s training school.

He began his work in the anime industry in the early 2010s, debuting in series like "Love Lab" and "Danchi Tomoo."

He became best known for recurring roles like Sonroku Shido in the "Future Card Buddyfight" series, and also appeared in "Anime-Gataris" and "Piano Forest."

He expanded his repertoire to include video games such as "Megido 72," where he played Shamihazza, and other games including "Quiz RPG: The World of Mystic Wiz" and "Yakuza 7."

His web anime credits include "Sword Gai: The Animation," "High-Rise Invasion," and more.

Beyond anime, Kenta has worked on drama CDs, voicing major characters like Jimmy in "The Royal Emblem," and participated in digital comics and voice dramas.

He has also contributed his talents in dubbing for foreign films and participated in Blu-ray specials and promotional content.

Kenta has sung character songs for projects like "Starevo: 88 Seiza no Idol Kakumei" and "School Band Life."

As of the 2020s, he continues to be cast in a range of TV anime, web series, OVA, and games, showing a knack for adapting to multiple roles within a single show.

Despite his outgoing personality, Kenta describes himself as having struggled with self-confidence, especially about his voice and skinny physique.

He tried bulking up during his rugby days with lots of food and protein, but never gained much weight.

Kenta has a fondness for Yoshinoya beef bowls and prefers pickled radish as a side.

A strong sense of family shines through in his story—he almost gave up his dream to return home when his younger brother faced hardships, but was re-energized by his friends and family’s encouragement.

Kenta admits that he owes much of his ongoing voice acting career to a friend's timely push during a crucial turning point.

  • Kenta excelled at playing rough, energetic characters in training, but found understated, sentimental roles a challenge early on.
  • He admits to having poor computer skills, which made researching the entertainment world a bit harder.
  • He's active on social media and occasionally shares personal and career anecdotes with fans.
  • Even after becoming a voice actor, he is grateful for the support from his unlikely journey—especially the serendipity that shaped his career path.

In addition to his professional work, Kenta has voiced characters for digital comics, such as "Ningyo Toge," as well as fair share of BL (Boys Love) drama CDs and audio content.

He has also participated in various live events and radio shows related to his anime and game projects, building a loyal fan following among anime enthusiasts and gamers alike.
