Hellsing is a Japanese manga series by Kouta Hirano, serialized in Young King OURs from 1997 to 2008 and compiled into 10 volumes. It is a dark fantasy and battle action series centered on the Royal Order of Protestant Knights, a secret British organization led by Integra Hellsing, as they combat supernatural threats.
Set at the end of the 20th century, the story follows the Hellsing Organization as they battle vampires and other undead creatures plaguing England. Their greatest weapon is Alucard, an immensely powerful vampire bound in service to the Hellsing family, who is deployed alongside the newly turned vampire and former police officer, Seras Victoria.
The organization soon faces a devastating attack from a mysterious enemy group, later revealed to be Millennium, a battalion of Nazi remnants hiding in South America. Having perfected artificial vampirism, they launch a massive assault on London.
The conflict escalates into a three-way war when the Vatican's secret Iscariot Organization, led by the fanatical Enrico Maxwell, invades London with a crusade to reclaim England for the Catholic Church. The final battle culminates with Alucard unleashing his full power, the "River of Death," absorbing millions of souls, before a final confrontation engineered by Millennium's leader, the Major.
Thirty years later, after seemingly being erased from existence, Alucard returns to a much older Integra and Seras, who has since taken his place as the organization's primary vampire.
Hellsing Organization
Alucard
The main protagonist, voiced by Jouji Nakata. A vampire of unparalleled power, bound to serve the Hellsing family. He is arrogant and enjoys toying with his enemies, fighting with two massive pistols. His true identity is none other than Count Dracula himself, having lived for centuries and absorbed countless souls. He deploys a multi-level restraint system, ending with the cataclysmic "Level Zero."
Seras Victoria
Voiced by Fumiko Orikasa. A former policewoman turned vampire by Alucard during a mission gone wrong. Despite her new nature, she struggles with her humanity, refusing to drink blood directly and often acting as the story's moral compass. She eventually accepts her powers, becoming a formidable warrior wielding massive anti-fortress cannons.
Sir Integra Fairbrook Wingates Hellsing
Voiced by Yoshiko Sakakibara (adult) and Kaori Mizuhashi (child). The head of the Hellsing Organization and Alucard's master. A stern and unflinching leader, she commands respect from all her subordinates and enemies with her iron will. She is the last true descendant of the Helsing lineage and a member of the British Round Table.
Walter C. Dornez
Voiced by Motomu Kiyokawa (old) and Daisuke Namikawa (young). The family butler and a retired vampire hunter, once known as the "Angel of Death" for his deadly skill with microfilament wires. His deep-seated desire to defeat Alucard in his prime leads him to a shocking betrayal during the final battle.
Iscariot Organization
Alexander Anderson
The Vatican's most formidable warrior, a regenerating priest fanatically devoted to destroying monsters and heretics. He wields an arsenal of blessed bayonets and considers Alucard his greatest rival. His confrontation with Alucard is a central conflict, culminating in him using a holy relic to transform himself into a monster for a final, desperate fight.
Enrico Maxwell
Voiced by Hideyuki Tanaka (TV) and Show Hayami (OVA). The ambitious leader of Iscariot. An orphan driven by a deep-seated need for power and recognition, he initiates a brutal crusade to conquer London, seeing it as an opportunity for a Catholic reconquest.
Millennium
The Major
Millennium's leader, a portly cyborg and former SS officer obsessed with waging endless war. He despises vampires for their loss of personal identity and engineered the entire invasion for the sole purpose of defeating Alucard, whom he considers the ultimate "monster." His love of warfare is purely ideological, delighting in the chaos of battle.
The Captain
A silent, immensely powerful werewolf who serves as the Major's bodyguard. He is the original "Werewolf" with supernatural speed and the ability to turn intangible. He meets his end in a climactic battle against Seras Victoria.
