Sheyta is introduced in the latter half of the Alicization arc as a solitary Integrity Knight with a terrifying reputation for her cutting ability.

During the revolt of Kazuto Kirigaya (Kirito) and Eugeo against Quinella in the Central Cathedral, Sheyta is sealed in long-term Deep Freeze and does not participate in their interception.

She wears gray armor and appears to be in her late twenties, but she has been an Integrity Knight for over one hundred years.

Despite this, remarks about her age still hurt her feelings, hinting that she is more sensitive than her cold exterior suggests.

Her personality is extremely quiet and expressionless, earning her the nickname “Soundless.”

She almost never speaks and keeps an emotional distance from others, which makes her seem aloof and unapproachable within the knight order.

Sheyta’s core talent is “cutting anything.”

Even training wooden dummies can be cleanly sliced apart with just her bare hand strikes.

She secretly dreams of one day finding “something that cannot be cut.”

This ironic wish stems from the fact that almost nothing has ever withstood her blade or even her unarmed blows.

The frightening truth behind her talent is that Sheyta’s soul harbors an instinctive murderous impulse: a desire to “cut everything.”

Before her memory was modified by the synthesis process, she was a past champion of the Four Empires Unification Tournament.

In that tournament, where the rules demanded that blows stop just short of hitting the opponent, she instead cut down every single one of her opponents.

Her existence was so dangerous that all records of her were erased from official history.

After becoming an Integrity Knight, she still cared only about cutting, and the stories surrounding her are all terrifying.

When Alice Zuberg hears the details of Sheyta’s “awakening,” Alice is left literally speechless at their horror.

However, Sheyta is not simply evil.

From the time she became a knight, she has consciously feared her own killing impulse and tried to avoid killing others.

She isolates herself within the Integrity Knight order on purpose.

By staying away from casual sparring and training, she reduces the chance that a simple match will trigger her urge to cut and end with someone’s death.

Even this precaution ultimately proves insufficient.

One year after Quinella grants her the Black Lily Sword, a sparring match with a fellow Integrity Knight escalates, and Sheyta cuts her colleague down, just as she had always feared.

Crushed by the realization that she cannot control herself, Sheyta voluntarily requests long-term Deep Freeze.

She remains sealed until the events of the War of the Underworld.

Her character functions as a kind of counterpoint to previous bosses and villains who excused their cruelty with tragic backstories or simply indulged their evil instincts.

Sheyta is born with a murderous nature but struggles to remain morally upright, refusing to justify wrongdoing even though violence comes easily to her.

In the War of the Underworld, she also deliberately holds back against the enemy.

Facing the Dark Territory pugilists, she slices off limbs and disables foes but avoids aiming for the neck in their first confrontation, staying within a self-imposed “non-lethal” limit.

At one point she is tormented by the Seal of the Right Eye because she briefly entertains the thought, “Wouldn’t it be fun to cut the entire Central Cathedral in half?”

Had she actually followed through with that thought, the Underworld might have gained an entirely different, truly unrestrained artificial being.

On the surface, Sheyta is taciturn, emotionless, and almost completely silent in social situations.

She rarely initiates conversation and tends to answer only when necessary, usually in short, clipped responses.

Her epithet “Soundless” comes from both her quiet voice and her habit of moving and fighting without wasted motion or sound.

In battle she seems like a living guillotine: every step is efficient, every strike pure cutting intent.

Inside, however, she is a bundle of contradictions.

She is filled with the desire to cut everything, yet she is deeply afraid of actually killing people.

She avoids companionship not because she dislikes others, but because she fears that if she gets drawn into friendly sparring, she might lose control and kill them.

Her isolation is a form of self-restraint and penance rather than arrogance.

Interestingly, Sheyta also has a subtle sense of curiosity.

Her dream of “finding something that cannot be cut” shows that she is searching for limits to her own power, and perhaps for a reason *not* to cut.

The Black Lily Sword is Sheyta’s divine object, widely regarded as a “sword that can cut anything.”

Combined with Sheyta’s skill, it can slice even Dark Territory pugilists who defend themselves with Incarnation, leaving perfectly smooth cuts with no crushed edges.

The blade is so thin that, from the side, it looks like a sheet of paper.

Viewed directly from the edge, it appears like a single thread or line, emphasizing its impossibly fine cutting profile.

The sword’s origin lies in the aftermath of the largest internal war in the Dark Territory.

On that battlefield, among countless dead, only a single living thing remained: one black lily blossom.

Under Quinella’s orders, Sheyta spent three days and three nights searching to find that lone black lily.

The flower eventually became the core of the divine object Black Lily Sword, perfectly suited for a knight whose entire existence revolves around cutting.

During the War of the Underworld, Sheyta’s use of the Black Lily Sword showcases its frightening power.

She cleaves through heavily armored foes and hardened Incarnation alike, making her one of the most lethal individuals on the battlefield.

However, this weapon is also a burden that amplifies her murderous nature.

In the final stages of the war, when Sheyta realizes what she truly wants, she loses the Black Lily Sword as the price of that realization.

During the war between the Human Empire and the Dark Territory, Sheyta is released from her Deep Freeze and joins the defense as an Integrity Knight.

She soon encounters Iskahn, the tenth champion and leader of the Dark Territory pugilist guild.

Sheyta and Iskahn engage in a ferocious duel, and their abilities prove to be nearly equal.

Their battle ends in a draw, with both warriors acknowledging the other’s strength and spirit.

Through this clash, Sheyta recognizes in Iskahn a rare opponent who can withstand and understand her killing intent.

Iskahn in turn develops a deep respect for Sheyta’s power and her inner struggle.

Later, Iskahn rebels against Gabriel Miller (Vector) and offers his aid to Asuna Yuuki and the Human Empire forces.

When American VRMMO players are forcibly logged into the Underworld as chaos troops, Sheyta fights alongside Iskahn against these invaders.

In the midst of this desperate battle, Sheyta undergoes a crucial inner change.

She finally realizes that what she has truly been seeking all along is not “something that cannot be cut” but “someone precious she absolutely does not want to cut.”

That precious person is Iskahn.

The moment she understands this, her entire relationship with her own power shifts from destructive obsession to protectiveness and attachment.

As a result of this emotional breakthrough, she loses the Black Lily Sword.

The loss is both symbolic and literal: she is no longer the woman whose very identity is defined by “cutting anything.”

With their greatest weapon gone, Sheyta and Iskahn prepare themselves to die in battle.

They stand together, resolved to face death at each other’s side rather than retreat.

At the last possible moment, they are rescued by Leafa, who arrives leading a group of Orc warriors.

This intervention saves their lives and allows Sheyta’s story to continue beyond the war.

Afterward, Sheyta witnesses the Incarnation of Kazuto Kirigaya as he fights Gabriel Miller.

Together with Iskahn, she entrusts her prayers and hopes to Kirito’s will, supporting him in spirit as he fights for the future of the Underworld.

Following the war, Sheyta’s life changes dramatically from a cursed, isolated knight to a woman with a family and a new role.

She and Iskahn marry, and they have a daughter named Lisetta.

Sheyta becomes the plenipotentiary ambassador of the Human Empire Unification Council to the Dark Territory capital, Obsidia.

She resides there with her flying dragon partner, Yoiyobi (translated as “Night Caller”), symbolizing her continuing role as a powerful guardian and envoy.

Having lost the Black Lily Sword in the war, Sheyta no longer wields any divine object.

Instead, she fights with empty hands, relying on her honed body and cutting technique alone, earning the new nickname “Sheyta the Bare-Handed.”

Despite becoming a mother, her combat ability remains formidable.

Her empty-hand style is still terrifyingly sharp, as if her very limbs were blades.

She also serves as a visiting instructor for the Dark Knights’ Order.

At their headquarters dojo, she trains a small group of roughly a dozen students, passing on her refined killing technique in a disciplined, controlled environment.

Her relationship with Iskahn is notable as a considerable age-gap couple.

Sheyta has more than a century of life as an Integrity Knight behind her, while Iskahn, especially in the anime adaptation, appears much younger and more boyish, making the contrast even more striking.

In the Underworld Reloaded (UR) storyline, it is revealed through the character Airy that Sheyta is currently sleeping in what was once Obsidia Castle.

This hints that her story continues in quieter, more mysterious ways, even after the massive battles of the War of the Underworld.

Sheyta is usually silent, but one of her rare, awkwardly phrased tough-girl lines can be paraphrased as:

“Fine by me… sir.”

The hesitant, slightly mismatched politeness at the end of an otherwise rough line captures her odd charm: a terrifying cutter who is still shy and socially clumsy underneath.
