He stays in power while other top demons are replaced. Maou acts forgetful, speaks without much authority, and sometimes can’t understand complicated words. His appearance changes depending on who is looking at him. Deep down, Maou is powerful and makes big decisions, like when he gave Bashvaza a tough choice about his fate.

Questioning Bashvaza
When Bashvaza was to be punished, Maou gave him two choices:
to start life over as a demon or to fall into hell.
Bashvaza says he does not want mercy because he broke serious rules and picks hell.
Because Bashvaza’s choice was “boring,” Maou decides instead to banish him, just like he did to Dariel.
This is really just firing someone, but in a fancy demon king way!
Maou never changes, even as the four demon generals keep getting replaced.
Granbaza thinks Maou does not age and could be immortal.
