Sarina Irisu is a female member of the Irisu family branch line, the younger half-sister of Makina Irisu, and a supporting figure connected to the Irisu succession conflict in The Fruit of Grisaia and later stories.
Sarina Irisu was born from Kiyoka Irisu's affair with the second son of an Irisu branch family.
Because of that background, she was kept away from the main Irisu household and forbidden from meeting Makina openly.
When Makina suffered severe psychological damage after the kidnapping incident from The Fruit of Grisaia, which took place eight years earlier, Sarina was placed in the position of branch-family representative and heir to the family line.
She thus became the substitute successor while Makina, the direct main-house heir, was no longer able to function normally in daily life.
Sarina is Makina's younger half-sister on their mother's side.
Her existence was hidden from Makina for years because Sarina was not allowed into the main household.
Makina first learned about Sarina when she was five years old, after a house steward accidentally let the truth slip.
After that, Makina would secretly go and watch over her younger sister from a distance.
Sarina, however, did not recognize Makina at all.
She had been told that Makina was dead.
Makina privately gave her the nickname Sacchin.
It was a one-sided but affectionate name, reflecting Makina's quiet attachment to her unseen sister.
As the daughter of the president of a massive corporation, Sarina lives a life of luxury and wants for nothing.
From the outside, she appears to be a spoiled young lady surrounded by wealth and convenience.
Makina's view of that life is much harsher.
After learning from Yūji Kazami that a life without inconvenience can also prevent personal growth, Makina comes to see Sarina as a pitiful person whose dreams, hopes, and possibilities were clipped away precisely because money made everything too easy.
Makina also feels personally responsible for Sarina's situation.
She believes that if she herself had not become physically and mentally unwell, Sarina would have been able to continue living an ordinary life in the branch household.
In Makina's route of The Fruit of Grisaia, the main Irisu family learns that Makina, the direct heir of the main line, is still alive and well enough to matter politically.
That revelation sparks a succession struggle between the main house and the branch house.
During this family conflict, Sarina becomes a victim of the power struggle.
While riding home in a chauffeured car after shopping in town, she is caught in a bombing arranged by the main house.
The attack leaves her gravely injured and unconscious.
Her condition is so severe that she requires transplant surgery.
In Makina's after story in The Labyrinth of Grisaia, Kiyoka states that Sarina is recovering steadily afterward.
This indicates that she survives the bombing and gradually improves.
