Chiharu Hiroe

Chiharu Hiroe is a petite, lively girl with bright yellow hair tied up in a ponytail.

She wears the uniform of Matsumiya City First Middle School as a 13-year-old first-year student.

After transformation, Chiharu takes on the look of an old-fashioned detective, reminiscent of an Edo-period police officer, complete with a badge and a decorative soul gem positioned on her lower chest in the shape of a crescent moon.

Chiharu is impulsive and full of energy, brimming with a strong sense of justice.

She’s an avid fan of detective dramas, especially "The Homeless Detective Koichi Todoroki," and often mimics the detective’s style for inspiration.

Chiharu exhibits earnest resolve to support her friends and community, but her overzealousness sometimes lands her in trouble or causes her to overstep boundaries.

Even so, she’s always eager to step into the role of the hero, undeterred by the risks.

Chiharu is a descendant of the Mikoshiba family, who served as priests of the Tokime Clan village. She lived peacefully in Matsumiya City with no involvement in her clan’s affairs until she and her mother visited the Tokime village, where she discovered her true heritage. Soon after, she was called upon to become a magical girl and joined the clan as one of its priestesses.

Her grandmother (or a direct relative) controlled the Kirimine Village as a high priestess, and Chiharu inherited both the responsibility and the legacy.

Chiharu’s unique power, granted by her wish, is the ability to sense malice as though she’s using her sense of smell.

This ability, though incredibly sharp, is less effective in areas full of mixed intentions or chaos.

Her magical girl weapon is a modified jitte (truncheon) that can emit wires for restraining or pulling targets.

Chiharu’s fighting style channels her detective idol by sniffing out wrongdoers, reminiscent of a police dog, although it's actually a sharpened intuition rather than physical scent.

Chiharu develops bonds with other magical girls, including Iroha Tamaki and Ui Tamaki, after joining various battles and storylines.

Chiharu’s magical girl wish was decided by an antagonist—not by her own will—but she made the contract unwittingly, sacrificing her life for a dream of justice.

Despite the tragic circumstances, her wish manifests as the power to become both the hero and detective she always admired.

Her grandmother, who once ruled the village with manipulation, ultimately faces downfall at the hands of Chiharu and her friends.

Debut in the Main Story

Chiharu is introduced in the main story’s second arc, "Hundred Calamities United Arc," as one of the Tokime Clan’s priestesses.

Together with Shizuka Tokime and Sunao Toki, she plays a central role, notably in the limited-time event, "Priestesses of Deep Green," where she is spotlighted as a protagonist.

Becoming a Magical Girl

During "Priestesses of Deep Green," Chiharu visits the village, meets Shizuka and Sunao, and contracts with Kyubey to become a magical girl.

Her magical girl origin story is further explored in her personal story arc, where she confronts her feelings of helplessness after a village incident, but ultimately decides to participate more actively in the clan’s activities.

Support in the Battle against Kimochi

In the main storyline’s second arc, Chiharu travels to Kamihama City, where she encounters Iroha Tamaki and Ui Tamaki.

Utilizing her malice-detecting powers, she supports her new allies in the fight against Kimochi, contributing both strategically and emotionally.

A Hero's Ordeal

Chiharu’s determination in battle leads her into serious danger, including an episode where her right arm is severed during combat.

Thanks to the intervention of Livia Medeiros, her arm is reattached, though the process consumes a significant number of grief seeds—showcasing both her resilience and the peril magical girls face.

Eventful Impact

Chiharu’s journey is marked by growth, grief, and self-discovery as she grapples with the weight of her wish and its unintended consequences.

Ultimately, she helps bring down the very relative who manipulated circumstances for personal gain, proving herself a true hero and detective worthy of her dreams.
