Asura is the first Kishin, once the most powerful Meister of Lord Death's Eight Reaper Legions, and is also Lord Death's firstborn son.
To keep his intense paranoia in check, Asura shrouds himself in dozens of layers of clothing. This elaborate attire is his way of maintaining mental stability.
His clothing, especially the long scarves wrapped around his face, is heavily decorated with eye motifs.
Beneath the wrappings, he has the face of a slender man. His hair features distinct eye-like patterns, and he possesses a third eye on his forehead.
When consuming souls, his face can contort into a grotesque and monstrous form, baring his teeth.
Asura is defined by his crippling paranoia, a man who lives in a constant state of suspicion.
This paranoia was so extreme that he couldn't even trust his own Demon Weapon partner, leading Lord Death to call him the "strongest coward."
His personality shifts dramatically depending on whether his face is covered. He is calm and collected when his face is revealed but becomes extremely hyperactive and erratic when it's hidden.
He was the very first Kishin and was originally considered the strongest Meister among the elite Eight Reaper Legions.
In his prime, he possessed such overwhelming power that he single-handedly wiped out all the witches on the eastern continent.
Driven by an all-consuming fear of death, he descended into madness. He achieved this by having his weapon consume innocent human souls, and then consuming the weapon itself to become a Kishin.
Asura's partner weapon was a Vajra.
Perhaps as a result of consuming his weapon, when Asura now manifests a weapon, it emerges directly from his mouth.
He used to refer to Lord Death as "Master," indicating that he was once his direct disciple.
It is later revealed that Asura is the first son of Lord Death, which makes him the older brother of Death the Kid.
Normally, a Kishin is a Demon Weapon that has consumed innocent human souls. Asura, however, is a rare case of a Meister who became a Kishin by consuming souls along with his weapon.
The Fall to Madness
To escape his crippling fear of death, Asura forced his weapon partner to consume good human souls. He then consumed his weapon, transforming him into the first Kishin.
Sealing
He was eventually defeated by Lord Death, who then drained all of his blood and flayed him. Lord Death used Asura's own skin to create a bag to seal him away within the Sealed Shrine, located in the deepest part of the DWMA.
Revival and Escape
After centuries of imprisonment, Asura was revived as part of a plot by Medusa Gorgon. Following his resurrection, he fled to the moon.
