Maka has slightly dark beige, or ash-blonde, hair that she typically wears in long twintails.

Her eyes are a distinct green, characteristically drawn without pupils.

She has a slender build and stands at 155cm (according to *Soul Eater Not!* anime materials), though one source requires citation and another chart from the first anime places her around 151cm.

Her preferred outfit is the DWMA EAT class uniform, featuring a black coat, a white blouse with a puffy-sleeved design, and a red plaid skirt.

As a member of the elite "Spartoi" unit, she later switches to a white sailor-style coat and a matching blue skirt, sometimes worn with black tights.

Maka is a top-tier honor student who is highly intelligent and loves to read and study.

Initially, this led others to see her as just a "bookworm."

She is serious, diligent, and stubborn, always seeing a goal through to the end with tireless effort.

Deeply valuing her friendships, she possesses extraordinary courage and the guts to face any challenge head-on.

Because of her upbringing, Maka can be surprisingly direct and foul-mouthed when she's emotional, a trait of her "Death City native" roots.

Maka is a true native of Death City, born and raised. This has even given her a unique local dialect.

She comes from an elite lineage, born from the union of a human Meister (her mother) and a Death Scythe (her father, Spirit Albarn).

However, her parents are divorced due to her father's constant womanizing, and her mother has custody.

Her mother's existence is only mentioned in the main story, but she makes her first physical appearance in another work by the same author.

In the anime, inheriting her father's weapon bloodline caused her to manifest a weapon transformation ability.

Academically, Maka is one of the best students at the DWMA.

She possesses a very strong "Soul Perception" ability, allowing her to sense soul wavelengths even within powerful magical fields.

However, she initially struggles with her physical combat skills and scythe techniques, feeling inferior to her more combat-oriented peers.

Resonance Techniques

• Witch Hunter

This is a traditional and powerful technique for Scythe Meisters, transforming the scythe's blade into a crescent moon shape. Variations include the "Number 6 Hunter," the "U-Shaped Hunter," and the "Scythe-Render Slice," a wide-range attack that unleashes her Anti-Demon Wavelength.

• Demon Hunter

Maka unlocked this technique after finding the courage to fight against madness. It creates a straighter, heavier blade for more powerful, direct strikes. A known move is the "Number 1 Hunter," a powerful downward slash.

• Kishin Hunter

Used during the battle on the moon, this is an ultimate attack unleashed through strong resonance with Soul and the Black Blood, designed specifically to defeat a Kishin.

Other Skills

• Maka Chop

This is her go-to move for disciplining others, which involves smacking them on the head with the spine of a thick book.

• Weapon Transformation (Anime Only)

Due to her father's weapon lineage, she could unconsciously transform parts of her body into scythe blades.

Maka lives with her weapon partner, Soul Eater.

She is looked up to by her junior, Tsugumi Harudori, in the *Soul Eater Not!* spin-off, who even copies her hairstyle out of admiration.

Her name is occasionally written with the kanji "摩訶".

She dislikes raw fish.

Early Days at DWMA

Maka is introduced as a student at the Death Weapon Meister Academy, partnered with the scythe weapon Soul Eater.

While she excels in her studies, she feels insecure about her practical combat abilities, which are lower than those of her classmates Black☆Star and Death the Kid.

Growth as a Meister

Through her relentless hard work and determination, Maka steadily improves her fighting skills.

She learns to master powerful Resonance Techniques with Soul, starting with "Witch Hunter" and later unlocking the more powerful "Demon Hunter" after overcoming her fears.

Spartoi

Following the successful mission to Baba Yaga's castle, Maka finally collects enough souls to turn Soul into a Death Scythe.

She is promoted from a One-Star to a Two-Star Meister and becomes a member of the DWMA's elite youth unit, "Spartoi," adopting a new uniform.
