Character Setting

Edit

A brilliant Meister and the son of Lord Death, he is a prodigy whose impressive combat skills are matched only by his crippling obsession with perfect symmetry.

He wears a sharp black suit, setting him apart from the more casually dressed DWMA students.

He accessorizes with numerous skull-themed items, a nod to his Shinigami heritage.

Beneath his jacket, he sports suspenders with skull-shaped clips.

When acting as a Shinigami, he dons a skull mask and black robes like his father.

He has golden-yellow eyes and three distinct white stripes on the left side of his hair, a feature he despises for its asymmetry.

He also has a cowlick at the nape of his neck that sticks up.

On the surface, he is mature, calm, and collected, especially compared to peers like Black☆Star and Soul.

He takes great pride in his position as a Shinigami, striving to become a perfect successor to his father.

However, he suffers from extreme obsessive-compulsive perfectionism and is pathologically neurotic.

His obsession with symmetry is legendary; it dictates everything from his choice of weapons to his combat decisions.

He once refused to attack an enemy simply because it was symmetrical.

This obsession is also his greatest weakness, causing him to fail tests because he can't write his name symmetrically or have mental breakdowns mid-battle over a torn sleeve.

Being reminded that his own hair is asymmetrical sends him into a deep depression, making him want to die.

Despite his refined appearance, he can be tactless, thoughtlessly grabbing the Thompson sisters' chests to check for symmetry or barging in on Kim while she's showering. He is the very definition of a "handsome fool."

As the son of Lord Death, he holds a high position but chose to enroll in the DWMA as a regular student.

He wanted to "create his own weapons with his own hands," which led him to become a Meister.

He insists on being treated as a normal one-star Meister, considering any special treatment due to his lineage to be unfair.

He refrains from using his status as "Lord Death's son" as much as possible.

Fighting Style

He partners with the Demon Twin Guns, Liz and Patty Thompson, because a pair of pistols is perfectly symmetrical.

He wields the twin pistols in a reverse grip, pulling the triggers with his pinky fingers, a style known as Gun-Kata.

His Shinigami body is incredibly durable and immune to poisons.

He possesses superhuman physical abilities, capable of dodging shotgun blasts at point-blank range and even defeating Black☆Star in a one-on-one fight.

Even without weapons, he is a formidable fighter, having single-handedly defeated the Thompson sisters during their delinquent days.

The Lines of Sanzu

The three white stripes in his hair are the "Lines of Sanzu," a symbol of his Shinigami power; their incompleteness represents his immaturity.

As he grows stronger through battle, he learns to temporarily connect these lines, boosting his abilities.

He connects the first line fighting Mosquito, the second against Noah, and finally all three in the final battle with Kishin Asura, achieving his full Shinigami awakening.

Madness of the Great Old One

After being absorbed by the Book of Eibon, he was possessed by the madness of a Great Old One, turning him into an enemy of the DWMA.

In this state, his outfit is a black suit with a white scarf, and his mouth has five black lines drawn across it as he fights using his Shinigami Taijutsu.

He was saved by Black☆Star's persuasion and later learned to control this madness at will, using it as a power-up without the sinister facial markings.

Special Moves

Beelzebub: He can summon a demonic skateboard that allows for high-speed flight and is used for various tricks.

Tornado Flip: A technique where he kicks Beelzebub, sending it spinning at an opponent.

360° Kickflip & 3600° (10-Spin): Advanced skateboard tricks performed with Beelzebub.

Shinigami Taijutsu (Reaper Martial Arts): A hand-to-hand combat style.

Stance of "Sin": A balanced stance for both offense and defense with few openings.

Stance of "Punishment": A more defensive stance than "Sin."

Stance of "Mad Sin": A powerful stance used when the first Line of Sanzu is connected, surpassing "Punishment."

Execution Mode: Achieved through Soul Resonance, transforming the twin guns. He can then fire a Death Cannon with extremely high power at low resonance percentages like 0.5% or 1.2%.

Death Cannon: His ultimate attack where all three souls resonate. Liz and Patty fuse with his arms to form massive cannons, unleashing a devastating blast of energy.

Sanzu River Shot: A rapid-fire barrage from his twin pistols.

Sanzu Fall Shot: A variation where he fires the Sanzu River Shot in a downward sweeping motion.

DEATH EAGLE-.42: A power-up achieved when Kid's soul grows, increasing the Thompson sisters' caliber to .42.

Parent's Seven Rays: A powerful technique where he enters Execution Mode, summons five coffins, and activates the first two Lines of Sanzu to fire seven beams of light.

He is the son of Lord Death, the headmaster of the DWMA.

His partners are the Thompson sisters, Liz and Patty, who can transform into demonic twin handguns.

Height: 158cm (according to unverified sources and the "Soul Eater Not!" anime materials). He appears to be around 153cm in the first anime's character comparison charts.

Blood Type: D (Death) Type.

Voice Actors: Voiced by Mamoru Miyano in the anime and Takako Honda in the drama CD.

In the final chapter of *Fire Force*, it is revealed that Death the Kid was created based on the series' protagonist, Shinra Kusakabe.

"You're disgustingly asymmetrical!"

"Damn it, I'm so depressed, I could die."

"You fool."

"You imbecile."

"It makes my skin crawl."

Mission to Baba Yaga's Castle

During the operation to assault Baba Yaga's Castle, he successfully defeats the butler Mosquito.

However, while pursuing Mosquito, he encounters Noah and is absorbed into the Book of Eibon, rendering him out of action.

Inside Noah's hideout, he became a punching bag for Gopher.

He was later possessed by the madness of a Great Old One but was brought back to his senses by Black☆Star.

The Moon War and Final Ascension

During the war on the moon, he struggles against an army of endlessly regenerating clowns.

Lord Death tasks him with a crucial mission: to negotiate with the witches for their help in blocking the Kishin's madness using their Soul Protect.

He faced the witches' deep-seated hatred for the DWMA, but his firm resolve and forward-looking vision convinced them.

This resulted in the first-ever joint operation between the DWMA and Witches in history.

After the war and his father's death, he officially succeeds him as the new Lord Death.

He declares his intention to create a new world where humans and witches can overcome the past and walk forward together.
