Vanilla Peschutz is the only daughter of the main branch of the Peschutz family, a historically feared vampire lineage that serves in the Maou’s army.

She holds the position of an upper-class Torture Officer but looks even younger than Hime, Inki, or Youki, and behaves very much like a child.

Although she comes from a notorious clan associated with cruelty and ruthlessness, Vanilla herself is fundamentally honest, kind-hearted, and soft.

Her sense of responsibility and pride as a noble often push her to overdo things, making her efforts backfire in charmingly clumsy ways.

Vanilla does not suck blood directly like traditional vampires.

Instead, she takes in iron through iron-rich foods such as meat to sustain herself.

Her clan is weak to sunlight, and if she stays under the blazing sun for too long, her skin turns red and stings the next day.

This traditional vampire weakness adds to her overall fragile and sheltered image.

Vanilla is earnest, straightforward, and deeply eager to live up to the expectations placed on a noble daughter.

Because of this, she constantly pressures herself to be “excellent” and “worthy” of the Peschutz name.

Her pride is both her strength and her weakness.

She carries herself with the dignity of high birth and insists on her status, but this often leads to her plans going off the rails in rather clumsy fashion.

At heart, she is a good girl who simply wants to be recognized.

Her attempts to act mature and imposing usually reveal just how innocent and inexperienced she really is.

Vanilla has trouble making friends because her pride and self-consciousness get in the way.

She worries about how she is perceived as a noble and as a Peschutz, and that concern isolates her from others her age.

Despite her lineage’s reputation as “the most cruel and ruthless” among the Maou’s forces, Vanilla’s own approach is surprisingly gentle.

Over time, she begins to reflect more of her true self—soft, creative, and affectionate—especially around Hime.

Hime is the princess-like knight captured by the Maou’s side, who generally speaks openly and has few secrets.

Vanilla’s missions usually involve extracting secrets from Hime, but things do not go as planned.

On two consecutive missions, Vanilla fails to obtain a second secret from Hime and ends up failing her assignment.

This pattern reinforces Vanilla’s self-doubt, as she believes a noble like her should never fail.

However, Hime deeply empathizes with Vanilla’s struggle to live up to expectations.

Seeing Vanilla push herself too hard, Hime unexpectedly shows her “hero” side—acting cool, supportive, and emotionally reliable in a way that hardly ever appears in her usual “about-to-die” gag persona.

Vanilla, who normally tries to maintain a noble façade, finds herself quickly drawn to this unexpectedly gallant side of Hime.

Hime’s kindness and “cool knight” behavior make Vanilla’s heart flutter, and she begins to lower her guard around her.

Through their interactions, Vanilla finally manages to draw out a genuine, important secret from Hime.

Hime reveals that, as a knight, she told herself that she did not need friends and only needed to fight—but in truth, she had always wanted friends.

By hearing Hime’s real feelings, Vanilla accomplishes her first true success as a Torture Officer.

At the same time, this moment marks the birth of Vanilla’s very first friendship—Hime becomes her first real friend.

From then on, their typical pattern is: Vanilla tries a “torture,” Hime responds with unexpectedly heroic kindness, Vanilla is charmed and emotionally disarmed, and the whole encounter ends with the two deepening their warm, happy friendship.

Their relationship gradually shifts from torturer and prisoner to something more like two girls sharing secrets and spending time together.

Vanilla’s torture style initially revolves around fear-based methods.

Her concept is “torture that makes the target tremble in terror.”

One of her signature setups is to use a roller coaster as an instrument of fear.

However, this often backfires badly, because she herself is more scared than the target.

On the roller coaster, Vanilla ends up panicking so much that she blurts out her own secrets instead of extracting any from Hime.

Hime, by contrast, is completely unfazed and feels no fear whatsoever, making the attempt a complete failure as “torture.”

Over time, influenced by her growing bond with Hime, Vanilla’s mindset and methods change.

Instead of trying to impose her fears on others, she begins to try “torture” that reflects her personal likes and happy places.

She starts bringing Hime to locations she personally loves, such as cozy, pleasant spaces owned by her family.

She also prepares handmade items like sweets and picture books, putting her heart into the “torture” in a way that is more similar to sharing hobbies than inflicting pain.

These new methods are technically still “torture” in name, but in practice they are closer to emotional bonding, hospitality, and gentle coaxing.

It turns the interrogation into a warm, almost date-like experience, where Hime is more likely to open up because she feels genuinely cared for.

Hime’s change of heart and eventual confession about wanting friends is directly tied to this evolution in Vanilla’s style.

By being herself—creative, tender, and earnest—Vanilla becomes far more effective than when she tried to be a fearsome noble torturer.

The Peschutz family is a noble vampire clan that traces its lineage back to Merak Peschutz, who once acted as the right hand of the first Maou and operated in the shadows.

Because of this dark history, the Peschutz are known in the Maou’s army as the most cruel and ruthless vampire line.

Vanilla’s father, Alioth Peschutz, is the current head of the family.

Despite the clan’s terrifying reputation, Alioth and his wife absolutely dote on Vanilla and raise her with love and encouragement.

From a young age, Vanilla has been told by her parents, “Do not let the family name bind you—live freely.”

They do not want her to be crushed by the Peschutz legacy and instead wish for her to follow her own path, even if it is gentler than expected of a “fearsome vampire.”

Historically, the Peschutz family’s main business was tied to their vampire heritage.

However, in recent times, they have shifted their focus from vampire-related enterprises toward the sports industry.

One example of this modern direction is the ice skating rink owned by the Peschutz family.

Vanilla and Hime spend time together at this rink during one of the “torture” sessions, further blending interrogation with what looks a lot like a fun outing.

The Peschutz estate also has a unique helper: an assistant maid with fox ears and round glasses, named Koko-n Kon in the original language.

This fox-eared maid supports the household and adds to the slightly whimsical, magical atmosphere of the Peschutz home.

As a member of an old vampire lineage, Vanilla inherits typical vampire traits, along with a few modern twists.

She avoids direct blood-sucking and instead relies on iron-rich foods like roast beef to maintain her health.

Her body cannot endure strong sunlight well.

If she stays outside under intense sun for too long, her skin becomes red and painful the next day, forcing her to be cautious about daytime activities.

Vanilla proudly claims that, as the daughter of the Peschutz main family, there is nothing she cannot do.

In reality, this is more bravado than fact, and she often proves to be adorably incompetent at things she has never tried before.

Her parents, on the other hand, give a more grounded assessment of her talents.

They note that she is particularly skilled at using wool felt to create small mascots and handmade items, which ties directly into her later “torture” sessions involving crafts and gifts.

Despite her noble pride, Vanilla is actually very sensitive and easily frightened, as seen in her reaction to roller coasters.

This contrast between image and reality is a major part of her charm and comedic presence.

At the start, Vanilla defines herself almost entirely by her status as “the honorable daughter of the Peschutz main house” and as a high-ranking Torture Officer.

She believes she must always be competent, fearsome, and flawless, and every failure hurts her deeply.

Her repeated failures to extract secrets from Hime—especially her inability to succeed twice in a row—make her feel inadequate.

These setbacks, however, open the door for honest interaction and vulnerability between her and Hime.

Through Hime’s understanding and heroic support, Vanilla learns that she can be more than just a symbol of a cruel vampire lineage.

She experiences, for the first time, the warmth of being accepted for who she is, not just for her bloodline or rank.

When Hime confesses that she always fought believing a knight did not need friends, yet secretly wished for companionship, Vanilla sees her own struggles reflected in that admission.

It is a pivotal emotional moment, combining Vanilla’s first true success as a torturer with her first taste of real friendship.

From then on, Vanilla gradually loosens the grip of family expectations on her heart.

She begins to “torture” in ways that align with her genuine likes and talents, and she allows herself to simply enjoy time with Hime.

Their relationship grows into a recurring, almost ritual flow: Vanilla sets up a scenario, Hime responds as a surprisingly cool hero, Vanilla melts, and both walk away with their bond a little stronger.

This cycle shows Vanilla’s steady growth from a lonely, overburdened noble girl into someone capable of forming deep, meaningful connections.
