Hajime Mizuki is the cunning player-manager and tactical mastermind of the St. Rudolph Academy tennis team, known for his signature "Nfuh" laugh and his analytical, data-driven approach to tennis.
Mizuki has a refined and elegant appearance, often seen with a confident smirk.
Due to his fair skin that reddens easily in the sun, he wears long-sleeved shirts during matches even in the summer.
His casual attire is quite distinct, as he favors clothing with large, bold rose patterns.

At first glance, Mizuki appears polite and mild-mannered, consistently using formal language with everyone.
However, this demeanor masks a manipulative and calculating nature, driven by an intense obsession with victory.
He is not above using his own teammates as pawns in his strategies, viewing them through the cold lens of data and potential.
Mizuki shows a severe side to teammates who lose, but this stems from his deep desire to lead St. Rudolph to victory, a fact his teammates seem to understand.
He is extremely prideful and overconfident in his data, often underestimating opponents who defy his predictions.
Despite his arrogant and often condescending behavior, he possesses a childish side, becoming flustered when provoked, and is a diligent hard worker, making him a strangely endearing character.
He is also a perfectionist with a strong aversion to dirt and messes, as seen in his dislike for calligraphy because it stains his hands.
Mizuki hails from Yamagata Prefecture and was scouted by St. Rudolph Academy as part of their effort to recruit talented players from across the country.
He comes from a unique family; his father is both an enka singer and a farmer.
He lives with his grandparents, parents, and two older sisters.
Mizuki is an All-Rounder whose primary weapon is "Data Tennis," a style distinct from that of Seishun Academy's Sadaharu Inui.
He excels at identifying an opponent's weaknesses and meticulously constructing game plans to exploit them.
Though his mental and technical skills are high, his physical stats are average.
Stats:
- Speed: 2/5
- Power: 2/5
- Stamina: 3/5
- Mental: 4/5
- Technique: 4/5
In "The New Prince of Tennis" OVA, it's revealed he is also exceptionally skilled at table tennis, having been a candidate for the national team as a child.
Shūsuke Fuji & Yuta Fuji
Mizuki's most significant relationship is with the Fuji brothers. He scouted Yuta Fuji, preying on his inferiority complex towards his older brother, Shūsuke.
He groomed Yuta into an ace player specializing against left-handers, teaching him the "Twist Spin Shot."
Mizuki was aware the move was dangerous for Yuta's developing body but callously dismissed the risk, stating, "That's none of my business."
This, along with his taunt that "the idiot little brother... was simple and easy to manipulate," enraged the usually calm Shūsuke, leading to Mizuki's humiliating defeat.
Since then, Mizuki has held a one-sided rivalry with Shūsuke, who largely ignores him.
Despite his methods, Yuta continues to respect Mizuki, as he was the first person to see his potential beyond being "Shūsuke Fuji's younger brother."
Keigo Atobe
Mizuki faced Keigo Atobe in the 5th place playoff for the Tokyo Tournament, suffering a complete 0-6 loss.
In "The New Prince of Tennis" OVA, they develop a friendship based on a shared interest in tea.
They are even shown enjoying a rose bath together, using roses brought by Atobe.
Sadaharu Inui
As fellow data players, Mizuki and Inui share a professional rivalry.
During his match against Shūsuke, Mizuki took a timeout specifically to taunt Inui, who couldn't enter the court.
In "The New Prince of Tennis," they were paired for a tie-break match but won by default after Inui suffered from stomach pains caused by his own juice.

The Prince of Tennis
As the player-manager for St. Rudolph, Mizuki crafted a "scenario" to defeat Seishun Academy with three straight wins.
He placed himself in the Singles 2 position as a backup, confident that the match would be decided before his turn.
After scouting Yuta Fuji and teaching him the physically demanding "Twist Spin Shot," he set his plan in motion.
However, St. Rudolph fell behind 1-2, forcing Mizuki onto the court to face Shūsuke Fuji.
Mizuki used his data to target what he believed were Shūsuke's weaknesses, quickly taking a 5-0 lead.
His provocations about manipulating Yuta, however, awakened Shūsuke's true strength.
Shūsuke then won seven straight games, revealing that the "weaknesses" Mizuki targeted were a deliberate ploy.
Following this crushing defeat, St. Rudolph lost the 5th place playoff match to Hyotei Academy, with Mizuki being defeated 0-6 by Keigo Atobe, ending their run for the Kantō Tournament.
The New Prince of Tennis
Mizuki was one of the 50 middle schoolers invited to the U-17 training camp.
In the initial tie-break matches, he was paired with Sadaharu Inui, but he won by default when Inui had to forfeit due to stomach trouble.
At the camp, he actively contributed by devising new training regimens that boosted the morale of the high school players.
The OVAs expand on his time there, showing him bonding with Keigo Atobe over their shared love for tea and enjoying a rose bath.
In Video Games
- In the "Smash Hit!" series, his abilities reflect his match against Shūsuke, with high Mental and Technique stats but average physical skills. His moves include "Maneuvered Interval" (lowers opponent's will) and "Intelligent Eye," a weaker version of Inui's data analysis.
- In "Let's Form the Strongest Team!", he gains the non-tennis skill "Lend Me That," which steals the opponent's serve, based on a scene where he snatches a phone from Yuta.
- In "SWEAT&TEARS 2" and "RUSH&DREAM", he is a romanceable character. He teaches the player a powerful smash that, like the Twist Spin Shot, damages their body until he later creates a safer, improved version. These games also reveal he is from Yamagata, speaks the Zūzū dialect with his family, and is afraid of slugs.
In "The Prince of After School"
In this official spin-off gag manga, Mizuki retains his elegant and confident personality but has a much more friendly and comedic relationship with his teammates.
One storyline features him being mistakenly scouted by Fudomine's captain, Kippei Tachibana.
Another chapter shows his kinder side, as he creates a detailed study guide to help Yuta Fuji pass his English exam, even earning a thank-you call from Shūsuke.
