Bunta Marui

He has a bright, strong-willed, and positive personality. Bunta is incredibly confident in his abilities, often calling his own volleys "genius."

Jackal is Bunta's primary doubles partner. They form the "Platinum Pair," with Bunta leading the offense at the net and Jackal covering the entire backcourt.

Jiro Akutagawa

Jiro from Hyotei Academy deeply admires Bunta and aims to become a volleyer just like him. Bunta also respects Jiro's potential and skills.

Eishiro Kite

In *The New Prince of Tennis*, Bunta partners with Kite and they display excellent chemistry. Though Kite "betrays" him during one match, they team up again later.

Akaya Kirihara

Bunta shows a caring, brotherly side towards his underclassman, Akaya. He and Jackal often look out for the team's hot-headed ace.

Tamagawa Yoshio

Bunta pretends to forget the name of his junior, Tamagawa, often calling him "Shinagawa" or "Yodogawa" as a running gag, even though he secretly remembers it.

Bunta is a huge fan of sweets and snacks, and his allowance is spent mostly on candy. His favorite food is anything and everything, especially marinated kalbi, and he loves going to hotel buffets.

He has a wide range of interests, including rap battles, bowling, and cake making. His favorite movie is *Pirates of the Caribbean*, and he enjoys listening to ORANGE RANGE.

There has been some confusion about his official weight. For a long time, it was listed as 62kg, making him a target of fan jokes about his eating habits. It was once corrected to 52kg, but the current data shows his weight changed from 62kg to 53kg.

His motto is "Eat, Sleep, Play," and his ideal type is any girl who gives him chocolates on Valentine's Day.

Kanto Tournament

In the Kanto Tournament final against Seigaku, Bunta and Jackal faced Takeshi Momoshiro and Kaoru Kaido in Doubles 2. They secured a decisive victory while still wearing their heavy power wristbands.

National Tournament

In the National Tournament semifinals, he and Jackal were defeated by their own teammate, Akaya Kirihara, during his demonic transformation.

In the finals, they played against Shuichiro Oishi and Eiji Kikumaru in Doubles 1. Bunta removed his 20kg power wristbands and unleashed his full potential, cornering the Golden Pair with his "Time Lag Hell." However, he was ultimately defeated when Oishi and Kikumaru activated their "Synchronization."

The New Prince of Tennis

At the U-17 training camp, Bunta defeated his partner Jackal in a tie-break match. He then teamed up with Eishiro Kite to play against Ikuto Kimijima and Atsukyo Tono. During this match, he revealed his new technique, "Wonder Castle."

It was later revealed that Bunta had made a secret deal with Kimijima. In exchange for funding for Seiichi Yukimura's complete recovery surgery in the United States, Bunta intentionally hit Tono's left knee with powerful shots, aiming to end his career. Although he lost the match, his actions secured him a spot on the U-17 Japan representative team.

In the tournament to decide the final World Cup members, Bunta paired with Kite once more. He unveiled a new "two-sword style" but was defeated by the pair of Shuji Tanegashima and Kuranosuke Shiraishi.
