Sakura Kinomoto is the cheerful main character of Cardcaptor Sakura. She starts out as a normal fourth-grade girl who goes to Tomoeda Elementary School. After finding a mysterious book, she becomes a Cardcaptor and faces many magical adventures. Sakura is known for her kind heart, her love for friends and family, and her famous phrase, “Everything will be all right!” She is athletic, a little clumsy with early mornings, and struggles with ghosts, but she always tries her best. As she grows, Sakura’s magical power becomes even stronger than Clow Reed’s, and she develops close friendships and a special romantic bond with Shaoran Li.
Sakura has short brown hair and often wears cute hair accessories.
In the anime, she almost always wears her hair in the same way, but in the original comic, she sometimes changes the style and does braids.
Her favorite colors are pink and white.
She likes the cherry blossom flower.
When at home, she usually wears hamster-shaped slippers, though in the Clear Card arc, she switches to regular slippers.
She is famous for wearing a variety of adorable costumes during battles, all made by her best friend Tomoyo Daidouji.
Her school uniforms change as she moves from elementary to middle school.
She often carried a cute school bag and in the Clear Card arc, she also uses a smartphone.

But when she learns something is caused by a Clow Card, she becomes brave.
She is a little clueless about love and sometimes cannot tell when someone admires her.
Her “invincible spell” is saying, “Everything will be all right!”
She is known for saying “Hoe~” when surprised or confused, and used to say “Hanyaan” when daydreaming or blushing in elementary school.
Sakura lives with her father, Fujitaka Kinomoto, and her older brother, Touya Kinomoto.
Her mother, Nadeshiko Kinomoto, passed away when Sakura was three years old.
She is very close to her cousin Tomoyo Daidouji, who is also her best friend.
At first, Sakura did not know Tomoyo was her cousin until their parents met again at a school event.
She joined the cheerleading club with her friend Chiharu Mihara.

Only someone with magical power could open the book.
Using the Sealing Wand at first, she could capture and use the Clow Cards.
Later, she changed the wand into the Star Wand, which matches her own magic, and started to change the Clow Cards to Sakura Cards.
By the end, her magic grows so strong she surpasses Clow Reed, the original creator of the cards.
Even without magic, her physical skills are amazing, and she often uses rollerblades to go to school or rush to collect cards.
Sakura does not use transformation magic; her costumes are all hand-made by Tomoyo.

She is not very good at noticing her own romantic feelings at first.
“Instead of being a master, I want us to be friends.”
“Everything will be all right!”
