Touya Kinomoto

Touya Kinomoto is Sakura's older brother by seven years. He is a second-year student at Seijou High School, a private institution. Born on February 29, he has blood type O. His favorite flower is the peach blossom, and his favorite color is blue. He likes steak but dislikes ganmodoki. Along with Yukito, he excels academically and is athletically gifted, making him extremely popular at school. During high school, he was a member of the soccer club. He holds a first-degree black belt in karate. Touya juggles numerous part-time jobs, sometimes running into Sakura without realizing it. He is capable of handling all household chores, with his specialty dishes being yakisoba and omurice. At home, he wears cat slippers. Although he often speaks harshly and calls Sakura a "monster," he genuinely cares for his sister. In the first movie, he even scolded Sakura. He becomes calm when he sees or talks about their mother, Nadeshiko. Recognized by Keroberos, he possesses strong magical power, deemed a suitable candidate for magical replenishment by Yue and Eriol. According to Keroberos, Touya's power is different from Sakura's. He has spiritual awareness, allowing him to see things invisible to others, mainly spirits. His intuition is sharp, having discerned the existence of Keroberos, Yukito, Nakuru, and the true identity of Mirror, as well as realizing Sakura is a Cardcaptor, though he refrains from interfering with Clow Card-related events. He deeply cares for Yukito, wishing to always be by his side, while finding Nakuru's frivolous nature annoying. In the original manga, he owns a motorcycle but primarily uses a bicycle for commuting.

Touya often clashes with Shaoran Li whenever they meet, stemming from jealousy over Shaoran's relationship with Sakura, whom Touya has always cherished. Despite this, in the final chapter of the manga, he helps Sakura by giving her a ride to the bus stop when she wants to confess her feelings to Shaoran, and when Shaoran catches a cold, he sends Sakura to visit him with food. During the Sakura Card arc, Touya quickly notices Yukito's (Yue's) existence fading and attempts to inform him, but is thwarted by Nakuru. Ultimately, he reveals to Yukito, "I know you're not human, so you don't have to hide it," and confronts Yue, transferring all his magical power to him with the promise to protect both Sakura and Yukito. Afterward, he loses his spiritual senses and can no longer detect presences as easily. According to Keroberos, his magical power will never return. Initially, he experiences drowsiness as a side effect but soon returns to his usual demeanor.

Touya also appears in 'Kobato.' (Volume 3 of the manga and Episode 22 of the anime), where he is acquainted with Kazuya Fujimoto. In the Clear Card arc, although he doesn't know the details of the new events surrounding Sakura, he senses that "something is happening" and tells Yukito that he feels he can still do something despite losing his magical power, hinting at the emergence of a new ability. In the anime version, it is later pointed out by Yue that his magical power is gradually returning, which Touya seems to have been somewhat aware of.
