Kukuri, formally known as the Hakusan Myōri Dai Gongen Kikurihime no Ōkami, is the local deity of Kamioka and one of the main supporting heroines of the series.
Often called "Kamioka Kukuri" by Kikuri of the Shirohagi shrine, she normally possesses the form of an adult woman but appears predominantly as a young girl in shrine maiden attire.
Due to the enormous strain of maintaining a powerful and unique barrier over the entire town of Kamioka, her strength has been severely depleted, regressing her body into that of a child.
When the barrier is temporarily lifted, she reverts to her original adult form, her speech shifts from a Kansai dialect to standard Japanese, and she addresses Kazuya more formally as "Kazuya-san"—though traces of her Kansai accent emerge when she is flustered.
Kukuri is a long-time acquaintance of Kiriha and shares her love for sweets, though her absolute favorite is *mizu yōkan*.
She harbors romantic feelings toward Kazuya Kagami, openly blushing and occasionally daydreaming with a smile about a newlywed life with him while out shopping.
Despite her divine status, she is deeply unlucky and perpetually struggles with human-like hardships.
She is financially destitute due to the dilapidation of her shrine, forcing her to take on side jobs and endure situations like being sexually harassed by Kanayama just to borrow money.
She is an old friend of the principal of Kamioka Higashi Junior High School, which she uses as a cover to operate a "Worries Consultation Room" under the alias Shiroyama Kukuri.
Her knowledge as a land god allows her to support Kazuya and Kiriha, but her plans always contain critical oversights, leading to a running gag where Kiriha puts her in joint locks as punishment.
She has an odd trait as a precocious know-it-all, loudly shouting terms like "threesome" or "SM" upon catching suggestive glimpses of Kazuya and others.
Living with Kazuya, she helps diligently with household chores, contrasting heavily with Kiriha, though when her shrine is destroyed she ends up homeless, sleeping in playground equipment with Kokuyō before eventually becoming a freeloader at the Kagami household.
Kukuri possesses the power to freely manipulate water, capable of summoning overwhelming masses to crush opponents, with her power even affecting the weather.
In her weakened child state outside her sacred domain, however, she cannot properly wield her abilities without the aid of a special Noh mask, reducing her strongest technique "Minazuchi" to a mere bucket's worth of water.
The barrier she maintains obstructs powerful *tsugumomo* from passing through freely, and her constant "cleansing of stagnation" further drains her remaining power.
She remains strong enough to effortlessly repel radical members of the Mayoiga even while weakened, and releasing the barrier allows her to access her true divine power as an adult.
Kukuri's weakened state makes her a prime target for the "Onogoro Festival," a fact she begins to suspect during the various assassination attempts against her.
When Mayoiga *tsugumono* launch a mass assault on Kamioka, she releases the barrier to regain her original form, only to be overwhelmed by a resurrected Kanaka Kagami who has undergone "kamigakari."
Her life is saved when Kasumi and Saori freeze time around her, and Kikuri of the Shirohagi shrine regenerates her physical body, placing it within the Taigin Shirohagi Shrine.
With her soul departed to Yomi-no-kuni, Kazuya’s group retrieves it just before a ten-day deadline, allowing her to fully resurrect—although her body must readjust, returning her to her young girl appearance.
Her voice is provided by Yurika Kubo in her child state and Kikuko Inoue in her adult form.
