Mysterious Larva is the creature that infected Kafka Hibino and turned him into a Kaiju. This small being chose Kafka as its host and lives inside him, slowly influencing his body. The creature first appeared in Yokohama, looking like a strange hybrid between a bug and a lizard. After finding Kafka, it climbed into his mouth and triggered his transformation into a Kaiju. The true reason why it picked Kafka remains a mystery, but it seems to have a will of its own. Sometimes, it actively takes control over Kafka, showing that it has more than just animal instincts. The unique sound it makes, “Mitsuketa,” hints that it can select its target rather than randomly infecting people. The character’s mysterious voice in the anime became even more special because the voice actor passed away before the show aired.

Mysterious Larva looks like an insect, similar to a bee but stranger.

It has a long body, small arms and legs, and bug-like wings.

In the anime, its mouth opens and closes like a sea anemone.

Its full length is about 50 cm.

The First Encounter

Mysterious Larva first shows up as a tiny, odd creature with thin limbs, a long body, and insect wings.

Parasite Attack

Mysterious Larva quickly makes its way into Kafka Hibino’s hospital room while he is recovering from injuries.

It enters Kafka through his mouth and starts the process that turns him into a Kaiju.

Unknown picks Kafka on purpose, but its reason for doing this is still a secret.

Inside Kafka

After the infection, Mysterious Larva does not do much inside Kafka at first.

But during Kafka’s battle with Isao Shinomiya, the creature reacts to the Kaiju No. 2 weapon, showing a strong urge to kill other Kaiju and says, “Destroy Kaiju.”

It locks Kafka’s mind away, taking over his body and forcing the transformation.

Hints of Intelligence

This behavior shows that Mysterious Larva has a goal and does not act just on instinct.

The way it picks out Kafka shows it is not random but is making choices about who to infect.

The creature voices “I found you” not just at random, but after choosing who it will infect.

In the anime, Mysterious Larva was voiced by TARAKO.

Sadly, the voice actor passed away about a month before the show aired, making this work their last.
