Character Introduction

Edit
Born on December 14, 1978 (1981 in the anime version, 1990 in the drama version). Blood type is B. Likes trendy things, dislikes steady effort. Often makes silly remarks or mistakes, serving as the "comic relief" in the series. He frequently voices "opinions that the investigation team wants to say but can't," representing the general public and readers.
Part One
24 - 25 years old. Height 174 cm, weight 59 kg.
A detective in the Japanese investigation headquarters.
He has a goofy personality, once mistakenly saying he got into the police through "connections," but he has a strong sense of justice and is physically adept, able to walk on his hands. He admires Soichiro Yagami. He eagerly took on the role of Misa's manager and monitor under the alias "Taro Matsui." Sometimes acts impulsively without thinking ahead, and plays a crucial role in the Yotsuba arc, risking his life.
Part Two
30 - 32 years old (34 in the special edition, 40 in the new special edition).
A member of the Japanese investigation headquarters.
Shows interest in Misa and Kiyomi Takada. Unlike other members of the investigation team, while he intends to capture Kira, he also sympathizes with Kira's ideology. His shooting skills are quite impressive, utilized when infiltrating Mello's hideout and to stop Light's desperate actions in the climax.
Live-action Film Version
Unlike the original and anime, he clashes with L, opposing L's actions. In 'L change the WorLd,' his scenes were entirely cut, but he is listed in the poster and ending credits. He appears in the novel version, cooperating with L. The suicide disguise operation he executed to save himself in the original is carried out to save L, taking on the role of a fake corpse.
At the Jump Festa in December 2007, the production of a spin-off was announced, and it was actually broadcast in a special program of 'L change the World,' included in the "fun disc" of the 'L change the WorLd' DVD complete set (most of which were scenes cut from 'L change the WorLd').
In 'Light up the NEW World,' he is the only detective from the Kira case 10 years ago to continue as the head of the special team of the "Death Note Countermeasures Headquarters," inherited from the "Kira Countermeasures Office" under his real name. Despite his efforts to seal the six Death Notes that fell to the ground, he witnesses a Death Note scrap with his name and "smile and commit suicide" written on it as a demonstration of Kira's power by Shion. Subsequently, in front of Mishima and others, he follows the note's instructions, smiling broadly as he shoots himself in the head and dies.
Drama Version
Similar to the original, he has a humorous and somewhat goofy personality. He has a bumpy relationship with Aizawa, often seen arguing loudly with him, only to be stopped by Soichiro or Mogi.
