Arnold Renk

Arnold Renk is a handsome young man with striking blue hair and orange eyes.

He is often seen with a confident, almost arrogant smirk.

After his resurrection, his hair turns an unnatural white, making him seem like a totally different person compared to his former knight-like appearance.

Arnold is fiercely loyal to Noland von Lüneberg, serving as his right-hand strategist.

He is extremely proud and will show no mercy towards anyone who opposes Neo Britannia.

Arnold’s sense of self-worth grows even larger after he is reconstructed, and he is not afraid to argue that he has become the ultimate fighting “tool” himself.

Arnold is an expert knightmare frame pilot.

His favorite machine is the Valpnir, equipped with three sub-arm shield units that automatically sense and block enemy attacks, protecting him inside the cockpit.

After his cybernetic recovery, Arnold pilots the advanced Lowengrin, which not only has upgraded features but also syncs directly to his own improved senses and reflexes, making his reaction speed far beyond normal.

Arnold looks up to Noland von Lüneberg and follows him almost blindly.

Catherine Savasula calls him “Ar-kun,” showing a more friendly or familiar side.

He used to be classmates with Ash, although he's much more obsessed with Ash than Ash ever was with him.

Deployment to Abashiri Detention Center

Arnold Renk is sent as a member of the Iron Knights to the Abashiri Detention Center.

He is wary of an attack by the Shichikouseidan, especially after the Kirkwayne brothers were taken down by Nameless Mercenaries.

The Clash with Ash

When Ash and his allies attack to rescue Kensei Kuroto, Arnold leads his troops to intercept.

During battle, he realizes that the person piloting Apollo is actually his former colleague, Ash Phoenix.

Arnold is eager to prove himself and tries to win by relying on the Valpnir’s powerful shields.

However, Ash criticizes him for depending too much on the machine and ultimately defeats him, breaking through the shields and piercing the cockpit.

Survival and Transformation

Though it seems Arnold dies in the explosion, he miraculously survives.

He is recovered in secret by Christoph Scissorman, his body barely alive.

Thanks to imperial cybernetic technology, Arnold is healed and enhanced.

He also gains a Geass canceller in both eyes, similar to Jeremiah in the past.

Return with Power

Arnold makes his comeback piloting the all-new Lowengrin.

He becomes almost machine-like himself, his reflexes and senses drastically improved, directly linking with the new nightmare’s sensors.

His appearance is changed: his hair turns white, and he looks far more intimidating than before.

Arnold starts to lose his grip on reality, obsessed with being the perfect weapon and brushing off any criticism about relying on machines since now, "I am the tool."

Crushing His Foes

With overwhelming new power, he nearly destroys the Shichikouseidan, defeats Ash by removing the Geass with his canceller, and brings Ash close to death before being interrupted by Isao Monobe.

Arnold continues to pursue and crush enemy forces, even as other armies attack.

Final Battle

In the final part of the story, Arnold no longer cares about anything except defeating Ash.

He challenges Ash to a deadly duel using the same sword that once killed Nicol, driven by long-standing hate and madness.

But Ash throws Arnold into a sharp object, and the rubble ends Arnold’s life.

Despite all efforts, Arnold never bests Ash, instead becoming a mere tool for Noland and a tragic clown—recognized by Ash only as an enemy to be beaten, and never as a true rival.

Arnold’s dependence on his machines is one of his biggest flaws and is frequently pointed out by Ash.

Even after becoming part machine himself, this theme continues, showing how Arnold refuses to rely on his own true strength or feelings.

Arnold’s story in Code Geass: Rozé of the Recapture is a tale of pride, tragedy, and obsession, ending with a character who gains incredible power but loses everything that made him human.
