Touji Ato is a cool-looking 17-year-old guy with a stylish headband and sharp features. He used to be a troublemaking delinquent, but now he is a loyal and trusted friend to Harutora Tsuchimikado. Although he often acts tough and talks rough, he is incredibly reliable in tough situations. Touji grew up in a complicated family, having a distant relationship with his mother and being the secret child of a powerful politician. The events he went through changed him a lot, especially after a spirit disaster left him sharing his body with a powerful oni (demon). Now, he studies at the Onmyo Academy, is knowledgeable about spiritual arts, and helps his friends out in all sorts of supernatural challenges.

Oni Transformation
Touji is skilled at using basic spiritual techniques, but his true strength is in controlling the oni power within him.
He can release the demon’s power in stages, gaining immense strength, durability, and fighting skills.
With each level of release, Touji becomes much stronger and starts to physically transform, gaining horns, fangs, and even a suit of armor.
He fights best in close combat, often overwhelming professional exorcists, and is one of the strongest fighters among his student group.
Special Senses
After experiencing the spirit disaster, Touji gained the ability to see spirits and other supernatural beings.
He often notices things his friends can’t.
Touji is Harutora Tsuchimikado's best friend and often acts as a supportive partner.
He also has a friendly, teasing relationship with Natsume Tsuchimikado and keeps a close eye on how Harutora interacts with her.
After entering the Onmyo Academy, Touji works well with the rest of the group, acting as a leader or support when needed.
Arrival in the Countryside
Touji leaves Tokyo and moves to Harutora's rural town for treatment.
He grows close to Harutora and meets key allies like Natsume and Suzuka Dairenji.
Onmyo Academy and Spirit Sensing
After Suzuka’s incident, Touji joins the Onmyo Academy with Harutora.
He quickly shows his skill in spiritual arts and reveals the secret of many supernatural beings, including Hokuto being a shikigami.
He often teases Harutora and Natsume about their relationship but is very supportive.
Training to Control the Oni
After losing control of his oni during the "Purification of the Dolls," Touji decides not just to “suppress” but to “control” his demon powers.
With help, he begins tough training, eventually unlocking more of the oni’s sealed power.
In battles, Touji’s transformation scares even trained exorcists, and his power rivals high-level demons.
Conflicts and Allies
After Natsume’s death, Touji helps break Harutora out of the Onmyo Agency.
He listens to Harutora and Kyouko Kurahashi’s predictions and chooses to help them.
When learning that Natsume returns and Harutora disappears, he promises to find them.
Touji hides underground with Tenma Momoe and trains harder under the watchful eye of Reiji Kagami.
The Encounter with Dakiko
When he rejoins his friends, Touji faces a crisis—the oni inside him, which came from the soul fragments of Taira no Masakado, prevents him from resisting Dakiko.
This leads to Akino being taken away while Touji is helpless.
Sui Sen the Shikigami
Sui Sen is a high-level artificial shikigami assigned to Touji by Miyo Kurahashi.
She takes care of Touji and acts as his spiritual partner since Tenma Momoe’s spiritual powers were sealed.
Sui Sen is gentle and graceful, and her “married couple” banter with Tenma sometimes annoys Touji and Reiji Kagami.
