Rei Ryugazaki

A first-year student at Iwatobi High School. In the second season, he is a second-year student, and in the third season, he is a third-year student. He refers to himself as "boku." He is 177 cm tall, weighs 65 kg, and was born on December 14th, making him a Sagittarius. His favorite subjects are math and English, while his least favorite subjects are music and art. He likes sushi, calculations, and pole vaulting, and dislikes unhealthy things, UFOs, and unscientific things. Although he dislikes unscientific things, he is not afraid of haunted houses. He wears red, self-framed glasses. He is weak to the word "beautiful." He always speaks politely, but when he gets angry, he stops using polite language. He approaches sports with theory and calculation, and he has a unique sense of beauty that focuses on the beauty derived from them. After enrolling, he joined the track and field club and did pole vaulting. He felt that swimming was unnatural and not beautiful for humans to compete in, and because he couldn't swim, he refused Nagisa's invitation to join the swim club.

When he was struggling to improve his pole vaulting record, which he believed embodied his sense of beauty, he participated in joint practice with Samezuka as a provisional member. There, he was captivated by Haruka's swimming and officially joined the swim club. At first, despite his theoretical confidence, he couldn't swim using the techniques taught by other members and could only swim the butterfly stroke. Therefore, he sometimes uses kickboards or pull buoys during practice. In the second season, after being taught and trained by Rin, he became able to swim all strokes to some extent. After Makoto's retirement, he became the new captain. In the third season, he competes in the national tournament.

He often emotionally rebuts his best friend Nagisa's excessive pranks and remarks, but it doesn't have much effect. When he falls asleep, Nagisa often pranks him or draws on him during training camps, making him unfortunate. His image is that of a butterfly.

His charm points are his deltoid and biceps.
