Omiko Hakodate

Omiko Hakodate is tall and skinny with long blonde hair styled in two high ponytails.

She has sharp teeth, fierce eyes with small irises, and a tough expression.

She wears a special tennis uniform called a "Two-Star Goku Uniform" made just for tennis.

Her uniform comes with a sun visor and her skirt is filled with many tennis balls.

She also has a three-colored scope lens over her right eye that spins and lets her see things better.

Omiko carries a giant metal tennis racket with spikes on the frame.

The strings are woven in a rough way that makes the racket look like a dream catcher.

Omiko is very proud and even a little bit crazy when it comes to tennis and her own strength.

She loves being in control and can be harsh, especially toward people below her status.

Omiko is strict and follows the academy’s rules, but she uses polite words when talking to people in higher ranks like Satsuki Kiryuuin.

Omiko is the third-year captain of the Honnouji Academy Girls Tennis Club.

At first, she only had a One-Star ranking.

When Satsuki Kiryuuin ordered a mission to take over Hokkaido, Omiko was promoted to a Two-Star student.

Her role was to use her team to control the area.

However, that mission later gets handed over to the sumo club instead.

Omiko is an ace at tennis and uses her giant, spiked metal racket to help her in battle.

She can serve tennis balls at incredible speed and accuracy, able to hit targets very far away.

Her scope lens lets her see things even better.

She uses the many tennis balls stored in her skirt as weapons during battle.

Omiko follows the rules of Honnouji Academy and especially respects Satsuki Kiryuuin as her leader.

She is a subordinate of Uzu Sanageyama, one of the Elite Four.

Omiko clashes with Mako Mankanshoku and Ryuuko Matoi during her main episode.

There are hints that Omiko was getting along with Takaharu Fukuroda, causing some fans to be surprised.

First Appearance and Early Rank

Omiko first appears in Episode 2 of Kill la Kill as the boss of the Girls Tennis Club, ranked as a One-Star student.

Satsuki Kiryuuin gives her the order to take over Hokkaido.

Challenge Against Ryuuko Matoi

Omiko gets angry at Mako Mankanshoku and blames her for skipping tennis practice.

She uses this as an excuse to take on Ryuuko Matoi in a tennis match, hoping to show her power.

Tennis Battle

With the help of Uzu Sanageyama, Omiko faces Ryuuko in a full-blown tennis match.

Omiko fights dirty and uses her giant racket to send dangerous tennis balls flying at Ryuuko.

At first, Omiko is winning the match and is very confident.

Ryuuko's Comeback

Ryuuko Matoi turns the battle around by using a handmade tennis racket.

She builds it from the handle of her signature scissor blade, Senketsu’s fibers, and some quick thinking.

Omiko loses the match and is demoted, losing her rank and power.

Aftermath and Return

After being defeated, Omiko is dropped to a No-Star status and loses her special uniform.

At one point, Omiko is controlled and trapped by Covers, the enemy force, which tries to take over the academy.

She is saved by a rescue tool called the "Emergency Life Injector."

In the final episodes, Omiko puts on a new Goku Uniform and helps turn a giant human-powered turbine with all her strength.

She also joins in the big last fight against Ragyou Kiryuuin’s forces, fighting alongside other students.

Omiko’s sharp teeth and intense face gave her the nickname “Shark Mouth Girl” among overseas fans.

Even though Omiko only appears in one main episode, she became very popular and has over 100 illustrations posted on pixiv.

Fans were surprised and happy to see her come back in Episode 22, “Tell Me How You Feel, Lips.”

There were some reactions about her friendship or possible feelings toward Takaharu Fukuroda.

Omiko’s special tennis racket is inspired by the dream catcher, a type of Native American decoration.

Her powerful serves can knock out anyone and make huge holes in walls!
