Ebisu is one of the Seven Gods of Fortune. Alongside Daikoku, he is a central and important god. He usually looks like a thin, tall man and likes to wear business clothes. But his formal outfit is a hunting robe. Ebisu has a forward-thinking attitude. Even though he is not good at sports and cannot tie his shoelaces, he is very skilled at fishing and loves the sea. His body is soft and flexible, so he can easily do moves like the candle spin. He does not follow the rules of the gods and is open to working with wild spirits if they are strong. Most of the Sacred Treasures in his house are wild spirits. People call him “Young Master,” and he uses wild spirits to control disasters in the human world. He is not an expert spellcaster and often dies from getting stung by spirits. To become a true god, he travels with Yato to get the Words of Yomi from his mother, Izanami. At first, he did not care about life, but he changed after meeting Yato. He gets the Words of Yomi, comes back, but is captured by Heaven and is fatally wounded. He asks Bishamon for help, saying, “I don’t want to die,” but he passes away. In the anime, the last scene is changed so that Yato is there instead of Bishamon. After reincarnation, Ebisu comes back as a boy who likes Yato and even becomes the No. 1 god in popularity ranking.
