Rengoku Kyoujurou

The Flame Hashira who uses "Breath of Flames." He is 20 years old. His Nichirin Blade has a red blade and a tsuba shaped like flames. He is a major character in the Infinity Train Arc.

He wears a white haori over his uniform, with flame-like patterns at the bottom edge.

He adamantly demands the execution of Tanjirou for violating Corps rules and Nezuko for being a demon, yet he does not show personal hatred towards demons, favoring rational discourse. After the Hashira Meeting, he is somewhat moved by Tanjirou's determination, and later invites him to be his apprentice when they meet again. Eventually, he acknowledges Nezuko, who fought to protect humans, as a member of the Demon Slayer Corps.

He comes from the Rengoku family, a renowned line of Flame Hashira. Trained under his father's guidance since childhood, he honed his demon-hunting skills. However, after his father suddenly abandoned his sword and became apathetic, Rengoku was deeply hurt but continued to support the Demon Slayer Corps with a cheerful demeanor while guiding his younger brother, Senjurou.

Rengoku's combat abilities are exceptional; on the Infinity Train, he can move between five carriages instantly and mitigate the impact of derailment with his techniques. He shows outstanding leadership and judgment, providing precise instructions to Tanjirou and others to manage the situation on the train. He is highly regarded by other Hashira.

During the investigation of the Infinity Train, he collaborates with Tanjirou and the others to defeat Enmu. However, immediately after, he is ambushed by Upper Rank Three, Akaza. Akaza praises Rengoku's exceptional combat skills, swordsmanship, and spirit, repeatedly trying to persuade him to become a demon. Rengoku steadfastly refuses and fights to the end as a human. Despite a more than equal battle, he is gradually cornered by Akaza's regenerative abilities and sustains fatal injuries, ultimately failing to kill Akaza. Nonetheless, he fought valiantly against an Upper Rank demon who had killed numerous Hashira, protecting everyone else from harm. With his last words, he leaves a message for Tanjirou and dies with a smile, holding his love for his family. He became the first Hashira of his generation to die in battle, but his fighting spirit and conviction deeply influenced Tanjirou and others, earning continued respect even after his death.

In the spin-off "Rengoku Kyoujurou Gaiden," he is portrayed as the protagonist.
