Shidou Itsuka

The protagonist of this work. A second-year student in class 4 at Raizen High School. Abandoned by his parents when he was young, he was taken in by the Itsuka family. Having lost his parents at a single-digit age, he is very sensitive to others' despair and quickly noticed Tooka's despair upon their first meeting. His foster parents are often away from home, so he is skilled in household chores and cooking.

He has a special constitution that allows him to absorb and seal the spirits' powers through a kiss, and use those powers as his own. He was somewhat forcibly recruited by an organization called "Ratatoskr" to negotiate with spirits in order to reduce spirit-related damages. Initially bewildered, through his interactions with Tooka and Yoshino, he gradually wants to help the spirits and decides on his own to take on the role of negotiator. He also disguised himself as a woman using the alias Shidou Shiori (voiced by Saeko Kouda) to negotiate with the man-hating Miku Izayoi, and his appearance then closely resembled his real sister, Mana Takamiya.

Although he can be a bit harsh with words, he is a kind-hearted boy who cannot ignore those in trouble or in sorrow. Tooka and Yoshino have affections for him, but due to his plain appearance and harsh words, he is not very popular among the girls in his class, ranking 52nd in the "Boyfriend Ranking" organized by Hiroto Tonomachi, neither high nor low, but treated quite harshly. Having no experience in romantic relationships, he is subjected to unreasonable training led by Kotori and Reine to learn the know-how of dating. However, recently, beauties like Tooka and Origami have started showing their affection openly, and he has become noticeably clingy to spirits disguised as humans, earning jealousy from boys and contempt from girls.

He possesses the ability to seal and neutralize the powers of spirits through a kiss, but it is ineffective unless the spirit opens up their heart to some extent. Also, because he has sealed the powers of multiple spirits within him, he has the ability to regenerate from fatal wounds along with flames, which is due to Kotori's spiritual power, and this ability was temporarily lost when she regained her spirit power. Furthermore, there is an invisible path between Shidou and the spirits, and when a spirit's mental state becomes unstable, the power can backflow through this path, but it returns to normal when the spirit's mental state stabilizes.
