Original Work
One of the heroines. A second-year student at Fujimi Academy. She usually refers to herself as "atashi," but sometimes uses "watashi."
She is characterized by her long brown hair that reaches her waist and two ahoge. According to Takashi, she seems like an "honor student" and appears to have no siblings.
She is extremely hysterical and competitive, giving off a not-so-favorable impression. She sometimes exhibits terrifyingly raw behavior and even admits, "That's just how women are," portraying her as an anti-heroine throughout the story. On the other hand, she has a fragile and mentally unstable side, feeling she "can't live without someone supporting her."
She has been childhood friends with Takashi since kindergarten. Based on the geographical depiction in the story, their family homes are close to each other. In elementary school, she was so close to Takashi that they promised to marry each other, but after the incident mentioned later, she repeated a year and tried to consult him, which led to an argument and her losing patience with him. Shortly after, she was drawn to Hisashi, who treated her kindly, and they began dating.
After Hisashi's death, she still clings to his memory but starts to be drawn to Takashi, leading to a complicated relationship. After reuniting, she notices the growing closeness between Takashi and Saeko, which causes her anxiety and impatience. As a result, she often ends up glaring at Saeko.
Originally, she was a year ahead of Takashi, but due to various circumstances involving her father, Tadashi, she was held back a year by Shidou, making her in the same grade as Takashi. Because of this, both she and her father harbor intense hatred towards Shidou. Additionally, based on Morita's remarks in the original work and the depiction of daily life in the slot version, she seems to be an outcast in her class due to being a repeating student.
She is a member of the spear martial arts club and has also learned bayonet techniques from her father. She bravely confronts "them" using long weapons like a mop handle obtained at the academy and a Springfield M1A1 Super Match with a bayonet acquired at the Minami residence.
She ranked 4th in popularity polls. Her voice actress, Inoue, described her as "the most raw character in the story" and mentioned playing her as "a kind of unpleasant woman." The original author, Daisuke Sato, also expressed with a wry smile that he originally wanted to portray a tragic heroine and revealed his regret about her current personality setting. The character designer, Shoji Sato, also expressed concern about these points, and her humanity is viewed with apprehension by those involved.
Her name is derived from the manga artist Rei Mikamoto, the author of "Zombie-ya Reiko."
Anime Version
Her hysterical side is further emphasized, and her screen time slightly decreases due to changes in the story development from the latter half of the series.
