Maki Shijo

A female student who moves from Class 2-B to 3-A in her second year of high school. She is a member of the Volunteer Club. Born on January 1, with blood type AB, she has a twin brother named Tei. She is a distant relative of the Shinomiya family and is a distant collateral branch under Kaguya's lineage. While she calls Kaguya "Aunt" under the pretext of respecting her elders, Kaguya dislikes it. Possessing almost the same specs as Kaguya, she has the third highest academic performance in their grade, following Shirogane and Kaguya. However, she believes she can take the top spot anytime if she puts in the effort. In the final exams of the second year, when both Kaguya and Shirogane didn't focus on studying, she tied for first place with Kaguya.

Though initially arrogant, she is truly gentle and sensitive. Her arrogance often falters, ultimately showing her true feelings, resulting in a personality with strong swings (from manic to depressive states). Ishigami nicknamed her "tsundere-senpai" because of this. Her speech and behavior resemble Kaguya’s in many ways. She is one of Nagisa's friends and harbors feelings for Tsubasa. When she found out Tsubasa doesn’t have a girlfriend, she exclaimed, "That's hilarious!" but was secretly happy. After Nagisa and Tsubasa started dating, she discreetly appears in the background of their dates. She hasn't given up on Tsubasa and waits quietly for him to turn his attention to her.

She first appeared in Volume 1, and her name was revealed in Volume 3. It was confirmed that her name is "Maki" in Volume 7. Initially appearing mainly in the bonus pages of the manga volumes, she graced the cover alongside the Kashiwagi couple in Volume 6 and officially appeared as a main guest in Volume 10. After consulting with Nagisa and Tsubasa's relationship, she became close with Shirogane and Ishigami, calling them "Miyuki" and "Yuu," respectively.

Although she met Kaguya in her childhood, her father instructed her to avoid Kaguya due to the rivalry between the Shinomiya and Shijo families, leading her to behave coldly. Despite maintaining a certain distance for a long time, she noticed Kaguya's affection for Shirogane around autumn of their first year and kept a close eye on her.
