Tsurugi Yagami is the eldest of the Evil God Sisters and works as a teacher at Sakurano Hanazakuyo Academy. Even though she is 31 years old, she looks just like a little girl, which often confuses people. She acts like a mischievous old man, often playing adult games at school and teasing her female coworkers, but she can also be very caring. Tsurugi is actually the first Sun Goddess, Amaterasu, who was once given all the great powers of the gods. She stepped down and left these powers to her descendants, including Sasami Tsukuyomi. Tsurugi cut a part of herself to create her "daughters," Tama Yagami and Kagami Yagami, but out of embarrassment, she calls them her sisters. She carries the sacred sword, Ame no Murakumo, and sometimes shows her mature and responsible side, especially when watching over her sisters and students.
Tsurugi Yagami is 31 years old, but she looks like a child, similar to an elementary school student.
Despite her actual age, people only see a small, cute teacher.
This is the reason why Sasami Tsukuyomi often calls her a “loli grandma.”
Tsurugi acts like a naughty old man.
She loves to play adult video games even at school and is often caught making jokes or teasing other women.
But underneath this silly and mischievous side, she has a caring heart and watches over those who are trying hard, especially Sasami Tsukuyomi and her sisters.
Sometimes, she admits she likes to avoid hard work, similar to Sasami.
Tsurugi is the eldest daughter among the Evil God Sisters.
She works at Sakurano Hanazakuyo Academy as Sasami’s homeroom teacher and is a coworker of Kamiomi Tsukuyomi.
She was given all the supreme power by the gods Izanagi and Izanami and became the Sun Goddess, Amaterasu.
After feeling tired of how the other gods acted, she gave all her responsibilities and powers to Ninigi-no-Mikoto and retired.
Later, Ninigi-no-Mikoto passed on these great powers by having children with close relatives, leading to descendants like Sasami and Kamiomi.
Tsurugi carries the sacred sword called Ame no Murakumo, which she uses in battles.
When she was active as the highest god, she looked like a grown-up version of her current childlike self.
She has the special power of the first Amaterasu, which is the greatest among the gods.
- Tama Yagami and Kagami Yagami: Tsurugi created Tama by separating part of her own body, making Tama her daughter, even though Tsurugi calls herself her sister because she feels embarrassed. Kagami was also made from a part of Tsurugi that got cursed and separated, then changed into a human.
- Sasami Tsukuyomi: Tsurugi is Sasami’s homeroom teacher. She looks after Sasami and cares about her “efforts.”
- Kamiomi Tsukuyomi: Tsurugi works alongside Kamiomi at the school.
First Goddess in Charge
Once, Tsurugi was given all the powers and duties of the gods as the Sun Goddess, Amaterasu, by Izanagi and Izanami.
She became tired of dealing with the selfish actions of the gods and handed everything over to Ninigi-no-Mikoto so she could “not try so hard” anymore.
Passing Down the Power
Ninigi-no-Mikoto continued the cycle by passing down the greatest godly powers through close family relationships.
Sasami and Kamiomi Tsukuyomi are descendants of this process.
The Creation of Tama and Kagami
Tsurugi planned that if she ever got back all the highest powers from humans, she would give the next godly seat to Tama Yagami, who she created by cutting off a part of herself.
Kagami Yagami was also made from a part of Tsurugi that was attacked and cursed by an enemy, later turned into a human.
Helping Hand
Even though Tsurugi likes to take things easy and avoid big problems, she still helps Sasami and watches over her classmates and sisters, acting like an adult when needed.
- Tsurugi feels embarrassed about having “daughters,” so she calls them her sisters instead.
- Her nickname at school is “chibi teacher” because she looks like a little kid.
- Her personality is sometimes described as an “old man in a little girl’s body” by others.
