Rose Oriana

Princess of the Kingdom of Oriana, a land of art, aged 17. While studying abroad at Midgar Academy of Magic Swordsmanship, she serves as the student council president. Despite being from a land of art, she chose the path of the sword over art and holds the title of the strongest magic swordsman at the academy after Iris graduated. In her homeland, the sword is considered barbaric and is not appreciated by anyone, but she doesn't particularly mind.

Unlike Alexia, she is a genuinely good person without deceit.

As a child, she was once kidnapped and rescued by Cid, who was disguised as the stylish thief Slayer. This experience, where she found beauty in his swordsmanship, led her to pursue the path of the sword.

At the academy, she began to admire Cid after he protected her during a school takeover by a cult disguised as the Shadow Garden, and she misunderstood the reason he protected her. She is one of the characters most connected and devoted to Cid in the series, but as mentioned, it is difficult for her feelings to be reciprocated since Cid is incapable of having romantic feelings for others.

Later, in Lindblum, she learns about the existence and purpose of the Diabolos Cult, and during the Martial God Festival, she discovers that her fiancé, Doem Ketzhat, is involved with the Diabolos Cult and that her father, the King of Oriana, has been turned into a puppet by Doem. She stabs Doem and flees. While on the run, she shows signs of demonic possession but is cured and enhanced by Shadow, returns to the festival venue, kills her own father, the king, and attempts suicide but is stopped by Shadow, who has revealed his true identity. She then flees again with Shadow's help, and after being lost and confused due to the crime of killing the king, she is recruited by Alpha to save the Kingdom of Oriana and becomes a member of Shadow Garden as No. 666. In her eagerness to save her homeland, she often acts alone and is frequently scolded by No. 664. Cid supports her under the mistaken belief that she killed the king to fulfill her ambition to become the queen alone, thinking she has an incomprehensible dream like his own.

From volume 4 of the book series, she is captured by the Diabolos Cult's scheme and is almost forced to marry Doem as a condition for absolution from the king's murder and Doem's attempted murder, but she is rescued by Shadow, who misunderstood that she had given up her ambition to become the queen alone. She acquires the "Contract Ring" that Shadow accidentally drops, streams the last will of the King of Oriana contained in the ring, and exposes Doem's misdeeds. She then becomes the queen of Oriana and involves her people in a confrontation against the Diabolos Cult.

In the TV anime version, her appearance is moved up compared to the original work to stop Claire, who is recklessly trying to clear Cid's false charges. In the first episode of the first season, she can be briefly seen from behind with short hair as No. 666 (identifiable by the same sword she carries).

Shadow is unaware that Rose has become a member of Shadow Garden, so they have never met as No. 666, but in "Master of Garden," it is possible to have a conversation with Rose wearing a slime suit.
