Character Setting

Edit

Shibiretta is a senior old woman and a veteran member of the villain organization Eternal in “Yes! PreCure 5 GoGo!” Recognizable by her gigantic mushroom cap-shaped hair, she wears green clothing and black long boots, often carrying a staff or a book. Shibiretta is cunning, sly, and cold-hearted, unafraid to use, betray, or deceive others for her advantage. She was once deeply trusted by the Director but grew resentful when her efforts to move his heart through stories failed, causing her to see books as mere tools. She specializes in trapping the Pretty Cure team inside twisted fairy tale worlds drawn from her personal library and is exceptional in both magical and strategic abilities.

Shibiretta stands out with her enormous mushroom cap-like hair, which is her most notable physical feature.

She dresses in green attire and wears long black boots.

She is usually seen holding a staff or a book.

Her room is filled with a large collection of storybooks.

When enraged, her face becomes monstrous and terrifying, and her hair covers her body, evolving her into a missile-like form for powerful attacks.

Shibiretta is extremely cunning, shrewd, and ruthless, thriving on using others for her personal goals.

She has no problem breaking promises or manipulating people to her advantage, enjoying schemes and deceptions.

She often uses sarcastic and sharp language, especially when dealing with rivals like Anacondy.

Her worldview is colored by disappointment: despite being trusted by the Director, she couldn’t touch his heart with stories, which led her to treat literature as a mere tool.

Shibiretta is an established, long-time member of Eternal, once deeply trusted by the Director.

She retreated from frontline work due to her age but was called back to action by a personal request from the Director in episode 13.

Her earlier failure to move the Director with stories led to her using books instrumentally instead of wholeheartedly.

She excels at creating alternate worlds by manifesting fairy tales from her vast collection of books, trapping others within them.

Shibiretta’s head protects her from attacks, and she fires deadly black beams from her staff or fingertips.

She is agile enough to dodge aerial attacks and can counter with magical rays.

Unlike other Eternal members, she doesn’t transform into a monster form, but her face and shape drastically change when she is furious, boosting her combat abilities.

The worlds she creates collapse and the associated books disappear when she is defeated.

She also summons stronger-than-usual Hoshii-na minions themed after the fairy tales she employs.

  • Director: She earned the Director’s trust yet resented her inability to touch his heart through stories.
  • Anacondy: Her relationship with Anacondy, who now serves as the Director’s aide, is particularly antagonistic. Shibiretta goes out of her way to irritate Anacondy, for example, by withholding reports to force her rival to visit and then acting as if she were the superior.
  • Other Eternal members: She was tasked with obtaining the Rose Pact alongside Nebatakos and frequently interacts with other minions.
  • Pretty Cure 5: They are the chief targets of her plans, repeatedly foiling her fairy tale traps.

  • She prefers to call herself "atashi" in Japanese, emphasizing her old yet informal speech style.
  • Her specialty lies in the creation and manipulation of fairy tale worlds for strategic combat.
  • Losing a fight causes the destruction of both her created world and the books in her room.

“You just need to become our puppet and stay quiet!”

“No! I don’t want it to be over yet!!”

Reinstated and On a Mission

Though already retired, Shibiretta is summoned back by the Director’s special request in episode 13.

She teams up with Nebatakos to steal the Rose Pact and starts targeting Pretty Cure by trapping them in storybook worlds.

Infamous Tactics: The Fairy Tale Traps

She repeatedly uses famous tales like “Pinocchio,” “Jack and the Beanstalk,” “Hansel and Gretel,” and “The Little Mermaid,”

dragging Nozomi Yumehara (Cure Dream) and friends into perilous, themed universes tailored to isolate, confuse, and attack them.

Each book world collapses and vanishes if Shibiretta is defeated.

World-Building Episodes

  • Episode 13: “Pinocchio” — The entire team is drawn into the story.
  • Episode 15: “Jack and the Beanstalk” — Nozomi, Rin Natsuki, Urara Kasugano, and Milk face new trials.
  • Episode 16: “Hansel and Gretel” — Nozomi, Komachi Akimoto, and Karen Minazuki get trapped.
  • Episode 19: “Urashima Taro” — Karen and Milk initially, followed by the entire team.
  • Episode 27: “Night Parade of One Hundred Demons” — All members are caught.
  • Episode 30: “The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter” — Team is split but reunites.
  • Episode 40: “The Little Mermaid” — Everyone is ensnared.
  • Episode 42: “Arabian Nights” — Her final trap for the team.

Ultimate Confrontation and Final Stand

Due to repeated failures, Shibiretta is dismissed from her quest for the Rose Pact by Anacondy.

Desperate, she unleashes her trump card, “Arabian Nights,” scattering Pretty Cure across her deadliest world.

However, the team’s pure love of stories allows them to reunite and confront her.

During the battle, Shibiretta confesses her frustration over her inability to move the Director’s heart, revealing why she uses stories as tools.

The team, especially Komachi Akimoto, rejects her view, embracing books sincerely and leaving Shibiretta emotionally and physically defeated.

In her enraged final form, Shibiretta launches a full assault but is ultimately destroyed by the team’s ultimate technique, the “Pretty Cure Rainbow Rose Explosion.”

After her defeat, her book world shatters, and her collection disappears.

Notably, she never shared a dialogue with Bunbee in the series.
