Yoshirou Usuba

Miyo's maternal grandfather and Sumi's father. Although he does not introduce himself this way in the original work, there is a mention that he uses the surname Tsuruki as an alias. In the live-action movie and TV anime versions, he is sometimes credited under the name Yoshirou Tsuruki.

He has affection for Miyo as his granddaughter, but he was led to believe that she did not manifest any supernatural abilities and was unaware of the mistreatment she faced in the Saimori household. In Volume 2, although he realizes the situation too late, he believes that separating Miyo and Kiyoka and arranging a cousin marriage between Miyo and Arata Tsuruki would be better for Miyo's happiness.
