Nene Yashiro

The heroine of this work. She is a first-year student in Class A at Kamome Academy High School and a member of the Gardening Club. She also serves as the narrator of the story.

To become mutual lovers with her crush Teru, she summons Hanako-kun, a supernatural being. Despite struggling alongside Hanako-kun, she finds a cursed matchmaking item called "Mermaid's Scale" and attempts to use it against Hanako-kun's advice. However, she realizes that her senior has someone they like and understands her true wish, ultimately deciding to stop using it. As a result, she takes on the curse herself and turns into a fish.

Later, she wishes to "return to being human" and manages to regain her original form by forming a bond with Hanako-kun. Another mermaid scale is consumed by Hanako-kun, which disperses the curse but does not completely eliminate it, causing her body to turn into scales when wet. If her entire body gets wet, she turns into a fish. Initially, she couldn't touch Hanako-kun, but after forming a bond, she becomes able to touch him.

She is a dreamer with a kind personality. She has a weakness for handsome men and aspires to a romantic love. Initially, she called him "Hanako-san," but after seeing Hanako-kun reminisce about his school life and friendships, she decides to treat him as a friend and starts calling him "Hanako-kun." Her specialty is gardening. Her complex is her legs, which are often referred to as "daikon" by others.

She was once called "Daughter of Kannagi" by Tsuchigomori.

She has less than a year to live. According to Sakura, her life will end when she destroys all the vessels of the Seven Wonders.

Her bangs are cut short above her eyebrows, and she has long, wavy white hair that reaches below her waist, with the tips dyed emerald green. She is characterized by wearing a hair ornament shaped like a magatama. Her complex about her "daikon" legs leads her to wear black tights, and she also wears a skull brooch. Her eyes are droopy.
