Genshiro Ryuga

Genshiro Ryuga is the master of the subterranean Ryuga Lake, a vast underground lake beneath Shinshu.

He is the Black Dragon God himself, as well as the half-brother and lord of Oboro Shinto.

Although strikingly handsome, he is also lustful, overbearing, and extremely immature for someone of his power.

Even so, he is a fearsome being whom even a full mobilization of demon-slaying ninja could not defeat.

He is voiced by Yoshimasa Hosoya.

Genshiro searches for a beautiful woman with spiritual power worthy of becoming his wife, regardless of species.

After meeting Yuuna Yunohana in Yuragi Inn Town, he becomes infatuated with her and forcibly carries her off to his castle, Ryuga Castle.

His view of women is possessive, treating them as if they were personal property.

This attitude becomes one of his defining flaws and the main reason others oppose him so fiercely.

Despite his divine status, his mental age is very low.

He often acts impulsively, driven by pride, lust, and wounded ego rather than wisdom.

Abduction of Yuuna Yunohana

Determined to make Yuuna his lawful wife, Genshiro kidnaps her and takes her to Ryuga Castle.

When Sagiri Ameno arrives at Ryuga Lake to rescue Yuuna, he also tries to claim Sagiri as a secondary wife.

This sets up a direct confrontation with Kogarashi Fuyuzora, who also enters Ryuga Lake to save Yuuna.

Genshiro looks down on Kogarashi for being human and attempts to crush him with ease.

Instead, Kogarashi is enraged by Genshiro's treatment of women as possessions and defeats him with a single blow.

The loss is humiliating and becomes a major turning point for Genshiro.

Training and Growth

After his defeat, he is sternly warned that if he ever neglects his training, he will be forbidden from searching for a bride.

In response, he spends half a year training in the Ultimate Dragon Cavern.

There he masters Ultimate Dragon: Like Water, a new technique born from serious discipline.

When he challenges Kogarashi again, he performs far better than before but is ultimately defeated a second time.

Change of Heart

At first, Genshiro thinks only of revenge against Kogarashi.

However, after seeing Kogarashi's character and learning that Oboro has been enjoying her life, his feelings begin to change.

He stages a performance during battle in order to convince his retainers to approve his plan to win over Oboro.

These retainers are voiced by Junichi Yanagita.

After the battle, he tells Oboro to live as she pleases.

He then returns to training, resuming his self-imposed path of discipline.

Yuuna Yunohana

Genshiro selects Yuuna as a woman worthy of becoming his principal wife.

His obsession with her leads directly to her abduction and the conflict at Ryuga Lake.

Sagiri Ameno

When Sagiri comes to save Yuuna, Genshiro is impressed enough by her to try to make her one of his wives as well.

This further shows how casually and arrogantly he imposes his will on others.

Kogarashi Fuyuzora

Kogarashi is the man who utterly shatters Genshiro's pride.

Their first fight ends in Genshiro's instant defeat, while the second proves that Genshiro has grown stronger even if he still falls short.

Over time, Genshiro's view of Kogarashi shifts from pure resentment to a degree of recognition.

Kogarashi's strength and personality both leave a lasting impact on him.

Oboro Shinto

Oboro is Genshiro's half-sister and also his subordinate in status.

His later actions show that, beneath his arrogance, he is capable of stepping back and allowing her freedom.

Genshiro rules Ryuga Lake, a giant underground lake located beneath Shinshu.

His residence is Ryuga Castle, the stronghold from which he acts as the sovereign Black Dragon God.

As a divine spirit of overwhelming strength, he stands far above ordinary fighters.

Yet his story is memorable because his immense power is constantly undermined by vanity, possessiveness, and emotional immaturity.
