How He Spends Days Off: “Pursuit of truth”

Anser is described as slender, with a cold, inorganic vibe that makes him feel more like a calculating device than a warm human.

He has two distinct marks beneath his right eye, giving him a slightly ominous look.

He believes that other people exist as tools to feed his sense of superiority.

For him, stealing coins is not just theft but an act that confirms he is a “higher” being than others.

Anser is extremely self-centered and openly loyal to his own desires.

He cannot resist “knowledge one-upmanship” and loves to speak in a way that makes him sound wiser than everyone else in the room.

A notable quirk is his habit of stating obvious facts as if they are deep universal truths, often starting with a pompous lead-in.

Because he hoards these “truths” and drops them with great seriousness, people around him end up listening despite themselves.

According to his dormmate Olore Andrew, his way of thinking is so sleazy and unpleasant that both male and female students in the dorm keep their distance from him.

Despite this, he is not friendless because he is genuinely useful and well-informed.

Anser is highly knowledgeable and something of an information broker.

He can identify people and backgrounds just by looking at their wands, as he does with Lance Crown’s noble family name.

Unique Magic: Shurikess

Anser’s signature magic takes the form of a large disk-like thrown weapon featuring multiple sharp blades.

He can launch these like shuriken and then control their trajectories with his wand so that the enemy has little room to escape.

His magic allows him to:

Freely control the direction and timing of the blades mid-flight

Multiply the number of disk weapons

Enlarge them to massive sizes

Shurikess

An attack where Anser throws a large, bladed disk at his opponent.

The disk is controlled in real time with his wand to curve and pursue the target.

Shurikess Double

A variation where he attacks using two such disk weapons simultaneously.

He can coordinate their movements to pin the opponent down from multiple directions.

Large Shurikess

A form where he enlarges the shuriken disk to an even more imposing, destructive size.

This overwhelms the battlefield and can be used to restrict movement as much as to attack.

Anser Shinri is a member of the group known as the Seven Fangs, holding the position of the Seventh Fang.

He acts together with the Sixth Fang, Olore Andrew, in a mission to steal gold coins from the Adler Dorm.

He specifically targets Mash Burnedead and Lance Crown in the owl shed, intending to take their class coins.

Anser’s plan leans heavily on his confidence in his magic and his belief that his opponents exist to be trampled for his own satisfaction.

At the start of the battle in the owl shed, Anser appears to dominate Lance.

He wounds Lance while remaining completely unharmed himself, making it look like a one-sided fight in his favor.

However, Lance is actually holding back for a reason Anser misses entirely.

Lance remembers his younger sister Anna Crown and, as a doting brother even in his imagination, refuses to risk hurting the owls during the fight.

Because of this, Lance intentionally avoids using his full gravity magic, so the battlefield environment can stay safe for the owls.

Anser misreads this restraint as weakness and superiority on his part.

Once Lance cleverly lures the owls to safety using food, he no longer has to hold back.

He hits a shovel hanging in the shed to rattle the food bag and successfully draws the owls to a safe zone, away from the battlefield.

After that, Lance goes on the offensive in earnest.

Without the environmental restriction, Lance overwhelms Anser, striking him down in a completely one-sided turnaround.

In the end, Anser is defeated and his earlier dominance is revealed as a temporary illusion created by Lance’s kindness toward the owls.

This contrast underlines Anser’s self-serving “truths” versus Lance’s genuine care for others.

Despite his cynical worldview, Anser is surprisingly diligent about visiting the owl shed.

According to the person in charge of cleaning the shed, Anser comes every day to feed the owls.

This daily routine is oddly soft-hearted for someone who treats people as tools.

It hints at either a contradiction in his character or that he enjoys controlling information about the owls and their environment as “his domain.”

He spends his leisure time on what he calls “pursuit of truth,” which in his case often means organizing information and sharpening his superiority complex.

His regular purchase of eye drops with his pocket money suggests he either strains his eyes reading or spends a lot of time observing others.

One of Anser Shinri’s most memorable traits is his “truth-telling” speech style.

He states the obvious in an overly serious, philosophical tone, as if delivering profound revelations.

Examples of his “Anser Quotes” include:

“Time is something that passes by.”

“Flowing time… no one can stop it.”

“In any contest, there are those who win and those who lose.”

“Overwhelming the weak is an indescribably pleasant feeling.”

“When everyone is sacrificed for the sake of one person, that is a very sad thing.”

“By my estimation, there is a high possibility that a food called a cream puff contains cream.”

These statements range from banal truisms to outright smug cruelty.

In every case, Anser delivers them with the same solemn, “I have discovered the universe” tone.

People around him tend to listen despite knowing he is just stating the obvious.

Part of the humor of his character is this gap between the weighty way he speaks and the triviality of what he actually says.
