Garfiel Tinsel

A boy characterized by sharp fangs and blonde hair. A rebellious 14-year-old. Although small in stature, he has an intimidating appearance with a large scar on his forehead. He speaks with a unique accent and often uses proverbs (which those around him point out are used incorrectly). He is a quarter beastman and is the half-brother of Frederica. He serves as the self-proclaimed "Strongest Shield" of the Sanctuary. His nickname is "Garf."

He claims to be the guardian of the Sanctuary and opposes Subaru and his group, who aim to liberate the Sanctuary. However, he cooperates with Subaru and his group to overcome the Sanctuary's trials and the Great Rabbit's attack. By accepting his past, he overcomes his weaknesses and joins Emilia's camp.

Though his behavior is often impulsive and rough, he possesses a straightforward heart. While confident, he also has the sensitivity and immaturity typical of his age, making him easily hurt. After reconciling with Subaru, he respectfully calls him "Boss" and often hangs out with him and Otto, who is like an older brother figure.

He harbors romantic feelings for Ram, whom he has known since childhood, but he also understands her feelings for Roswaal. Although he does not have romantic feelings for Mimi, who shows affection towards him, he gradually opens his heart to her.

In battle, he fights equipped with two shields at his waist. In addition to the 'Earth Spirit's Blessing,' which allows him to receive the earth's favor, he possesses the beast transformation ability inherited from his demi-human blood. His prowess is second only to Roswaal in the camp. He has an extraordinary obsession with 'strength' and is deeply hurt by his inability to stand against the Sword Saint Reinhard in the Watergate City of Priestella, leading him to crave even greater strength.
