The mastermind behind the mysterious incidents occurring in Sakurashin is a person who is said to be a descendant of Enyo Hiizumi, who was once chosen as a human sacrifice. In order to avenge Enyo's grudge, he seeks to use the powers of the Seven Pillars to fuse two dimensions together. Currently, he has taken possession of the body of Gin Nanami, the older brother of Ao Nanami, and makes use of the abilities of the Hiizumi clan as well as satori powers. Additionally, through battles with Shidare Morioka and others, he has also learned the theories of Onmyōdō. He is the only being in this world who possesses knowledge of the afterlife. However, perhaps because Gin's soul still resides within, Gin's habits unconsciously manifest from time to time.
He claims to be a descendant of Enyo Hiizumi, but when a letter written by Enyo himself titled "Hiizumi Branch Family Dissolution" was discovered during an excavation of the Seven Pillars, suspicions arose regarding his true identity. Later, when Akina Hiizumi, transformed into a shinigami, appears, his real nature is ultimately revealed.
In the first television anime adaptation, the background was changed: he originates from this world rather than the afterlife, and he was formerly tuned due to his opposition to coexistence between humans and yokai.
