Ao Nanami

Ao Nanami is a petite girl, standing at 148 centimeters tall.

She has light blue hair and eyes that make her stand out in a crowd.

On the sides of her head, she has cat-like ears that she hides under hats or headphones.

These ears act like antennas to help her use her mind-reading powers.

When she is surprised or angry, her ears stand up.

Ao is very kind-hearted and always looks out for others.

She rarely gets angry and is gentle in her words and actions.

At the Hiizumi Life Counseling Office, she's often the one who keeps things in order as the voice of reason.

Even though she's smart in many ways, she finds numbers and math really difficult.

She likes to spend her break times solving third-level bookkeeping problems.

Ao Nanami is the youngest worker at the Hiizumi Life Counseling Office and just 15 years old.

She decided not to go to high school right away because she felt awkward about being in the same grade as her brother, Gin Nanami.

Instead, she started work at the office.

After things settle down with the trouble in their town, she plans to join the high school where Hime Yarizakura and Tōka Kishi study.

Ao is a Satori, a kind of yokai that can read people's and animals’ thoughts.

She uses abilities like Wide-Range Mind Reading (Satellite), which lets her hear lots of people's thoughts at once, and Mental Interference, which lets her send her own thoughts to others.

If she uses her powers too much, she gets really hungry and can even faint.

She needs to eat sweet things to recover her energy.

According to Enjin Hiizumi, Ao can also show people illusions.

Her cat-like ears help her use her mind-reading power.

Her brother, Gin Nanami, is important to her.

She felt very sad and shocked when she found out that Gin had been taken over by Enjin Hiizumi.

Yae Shinatsuhiko encouraged her, saying Gin's soul still remains.

Believing that she can save her brother if she grows stronger, Ao holds onto hope.

She dislikes Enjin Hiizumi for what he did to Gin.

Ao loves eating, especially sweet treats.

She’s very fast and can run 100 meters in about 10 seconds.

She’s part of the “rice team,” preferring white rice over noodles, unlike her friend Hime Yarizakura.

If she smells sulfur, she gets dizzy, almost as if she's tipsy.

Because of her low blood pressure, she sometimes sleeps in late or takes naps.

She often hides her special ears under hats or headphones.

Hiizumi Office Life

Ao Nanami works as the youngest member of the Hiizumi Life Counseling Office.

She helps with many things, but her main job is using her mind-reading power to help with problems in the town.

The Trouble with Gin Nanami

When Ao learned that her brother Gin Nanami had been possessed by Enjin Hiizumi, she was deeply hurt.

Yae Shinatsuhiko gave her hope by telling her Gin’s soul was still there, even if Enjin had his body.

Believing she could bring Gin back by getting stronger, Ao made Enjin Hiizumi her enemy.

Delayed High School and Life Choices

Feeling uncomfortable about being in the same high school grade as her brother, Ao put off going to high school.

She decided to work at the office instead.

Once things calm down after the big events in the town, she hopes to join Hime Yarizakura and Tōka Kishi at their high school.

Using Too Much Power

Ao's constant use of her Satori powers started to cause her problems.

The more she used them, the more out of sync she became with the real world in the town of Sakurashin.

To help her, she was given a booster by the Elders, shaped like animal ears, to control her powers.

In order to help align the Seven Districts, Ao had to disappear from the visible world.
