Edward Midford

Heir to the Marquess of Midford. Lizzie's brother. A student of the Green Lion Dormitory at Weston College.

A young man of his age, vigorous and spirited. As the heir to the Marquess of Midford, he excels in physical abilities and his swordsmanship is high. A typical sister complex, he cherishes his sister Lizzie so much that he casually calls her an "angel" and openly shows hostility towards Ciel, her fiancé. However, when he is not around, he admits his respect for Ciel, especially admiring him for taking on the role of the head of the Phantomhive family at a young age. He compares himself to the geniuses around him, including his sister, a genius in swordsmanship, and calls himself a "mediocre" person. However, he does not envy the talents around him; instead, he openly appreciates and respects them, trying to incorporate their qualities into himself. In the story, this ability to bring himself closer to genius through "straightforward respect" is praised. On the other hand, his simplicity is also depicted, such as being easily deceived by Maurice's scheme during the "Boarding School Arc" and not realizing that Teacher Michaelis was Sebastian.

He generally appears as a minor character in the story. In the "Boarding School Arc," his appearances increase as he becomes a dormitory brother under Prefect Greenhill, and in this arc, he interacts with Ciel, who he alone knows to be the Queen's Watchdog. At the end of the same arc, after Greenhill is expelled, he is appointed as the new P4 and candidly fears that he might become blindly adherent to tradition and justify murder, just like his predecessors did.
