One of the top liberos in Tokyo. Known as the "Defensive Command Tower" of Nekoma. His skills are so dominant as a libero among a team known for strong receivers that opposing spikers tend to avoid him, and Nishinoya holds him in high regard. During the first set of the third-place match at the Spring High Preliminaries, he was forced to leave the game due to a sprained right ankle, biting his lip in frustration, lamenting, "I haven't been sick or injured all year, why now..."

He is a hard worker who often looks after many problematic teammates, which makes him get along well with Sugawara, who is in a similar position.
