Suzu Kanade

Suzu Kanade is a beautiful girl with bobbed black hair that has a slight pinkish tint.

In her childhood, her hair was long, but she cut it short after Matsuri Kazamaki commented it looked difficult to manage.

She usually wears a long hoodie that reaches her thighs, leaving her legs exposed, but she always wears shorts underneath for protection.

Suzu is a little self-conscious about her legs being a bit thick, and she reacts strongly when this gets pointed out.

Her favorite accessories are hairpins that hold her bangs.

Suzu is cheerful, bright, and very friendly.

She is known for calling things "mouretsu" when she wants to say "amazing" or "absolute," which is her favorite phrase.

She loves all kinds of sweets and often snacks on them.

She is sensitive about her legs and gets flustered if anyone teases her about them.

Suzu is also very honest about her feelings, especially her crush on Matsuri Kazamaki.

Suzu Kanade is an "Ayakashi Medium," which means she has very strong life force.

She can infuse origami cranes and other paper creations with power, controlling them as her helpers for moving, fighting, or protecting herself.

Matsuri Kazamaki

Matsuri is Suzu's childhood friend and classmate.

They share a deep connection, having both grown up being able to see ayakashi.

When Matsuri becomes a ninja who fights ayakashi, their friendship is tested, but Suzu keeps supporting him, especially after he is turned into a girl by Shirogane.

She is very open about her feelings for Matsuri, even imagining romantic relationships regardless of gender.

Suzu is close to Yayoi Toba and Lucy Tsukioka, who share her ups and downs from school days.

She has a caring family, with her parents running a café and her little brother being part of their daily life.

Early Life and Meeting Matsuri Kazamaki

Suzu was often alone because she could see ayakashi when others could not.

This made other kids treat her as strange.

Her life became brighter when she met Matsuri, who could also see ayakashi and became her friend.

Becoming the Ayakashi Medium

Suzu discovers she is a rare Ayakashi Medium, someone with massive life energy that draws even strong ayakashi close.

Ayakashi like Shirogane want to get close to her, which puts Suzu in danger.

This power comes from her having inherited memories and strength from 12 past Ayakashi Mediums.

To cope, she locks these old memories deep in her mind, creating a separate personality called "Osanagokoro no Kimi" or "Kanade."

Helping Matsuri and Facing Shirogane

In a big fight, Shirogane attacks Suzu.

Matsuri saves her but is turned into a girl by Shirogane's magic.

Feeling responsible, Suzu works hard so Matsuri can be turned back, even making her own special sweets called "Suzu Dango" to win Shirogane over.

Her special sweets are filled with her power and even impress Shirogane, who is a cat spirit and usually only wants to eat living things.

She tries to help Matsuri, even supporting the idea of girl-girl romance if Matsuri cannot turn back into a boy.

Becoming the King of Ayakashi

After many adventures, Shirogane trusts Suzu enough to ask her to become the ruler of all local ayakashi in Omikoshi City.

Suzu accepts, becoming a respected leader and protector of both humans and ayakashi.

Suzu's character was inspired by the heroine Iyo from the author's first manga.

Her love for Matsuri Kazamaki grows so strong that it sometimes pushes the limits of what is allowed in a young reader’s magazine.

Her birthday is December 25th.

The voice for Suzu in the anime is Ichinose, who also played a character in "Darling in the Franxx," connecting the author’s imagination with voice casting.

The separate personality in Suzu's mind is called "Kanade" and was created to hold the memories of all the past Ayakashi Mediums.

Only Suzu could remember every past life perfectly, which sometimes made it hard for her to smile as a child.
